I am starting a new hosting company and want to do it right. is there any one out there that uses quickbooks or peachtree accounting software for their hosting biz? I know that it may be a little overboard but I really need to keep things in order for taxes and such!!!

Any and all Ideas please!!!!!!

Of course you should use QuickBooks or some type of accounting software to keep track of everything not only just taxes but your profit & loss (no billing system can track everything...), expense tracking, etc.

Any good business is going to use this.

Yes, Or something similar. It would make your life so much easier.

Be sure to keep paper records too in case something awful happens. Or a CD backup every week.

I have been using Quickbook for years - I use the quickbook automated credit card billing too. I like being able to send personalized form letters to clients at the click of a button.

Does WHMCS interface with/export to QuickBooks?

I've heard Quickbooks can import WHMCS CSV files, but its a bit tricky. If you cant find the info here, I'd suggest heading over the WHMCS and asking them for detailed instructions.

On the flip side - Microsoft Small Business Accounting Software does import WHMCS CSV files without issue. This software however was discontinueed as of Nov. 16th.

I would like to know the same thing, and if not how does everyone import their sales into quickbooks without all the hassle?

If you don't use Quickbooks then I feel terrible for you when it comes tax time.

Easiest way I found to import sales is to use the incoming transactions CSV export from WHMCS

Ok I did not ask the ? right. what software are you people using and how do you import your sales into the software, please enplane as if I am Dumb. whmcs does not export the correct type of file for Quickbooks nor does CE, so in this case what do you do to cut down time on entering every customer into Quickbooks. There has to be a program or script that does this for us!!!!!!:confused:

I am stunned that someone has not developed a reliable and robust method for getting WHMCS and QuickBooks talking. I truly wish I was a programmer. They are both the most popular programs of their type. Seem like there would be a market. Dave

The answer to this question is we do not enter every customer into quickbooks. I think this is more typical if you were using it to manage all your billing including sending your customer invoices.

For the amount our customers pay it seems sort of silly and the fact we can get reports other ways if we want to break it down per client. So all we do is import the data from each payment gateway we have. So we have our credit card data and our paypal data each just being their own "customer".

This is how we were advised on doing it by an accountant as we're just using quickbooks for the year end aspect. We're not using it for some all in one solution.

For anyone looking for WHMCS exports/imports to/from QuickBooks, I'm trying to get some beta testers for exactly that in this thread over here on the WHMCS forums. I'm building a completely automated, no-user-intervention-required export tool which automagically enters all customers and invoices from WHMCS directly into QuickBooks. /end shameless plug
