Hi,

I tried searching for info on these two hosts, but alas, to no avail.

Does anyone here use either DKTK.com or RT19.com? What have your experiences been like for either?

*bump*

No one uses either of these two hosts?

you probably won't find anything because no one has heard of them. That doesn't mean you shouldn't go with them.

Cons I've found:
neither host advertises a moneyback guarantee
dktk doen't accept credit cards (paypal only right now)
rt19 seems to use ensim(i don't like ensim, however you may)

Ask for a free trial with either host before you go with them.

No one has heard of them? They both post here QUITE often. I find it hard to believe that they have gotten no new customers from WHT (although of course many people, myself included, may tend not to read posts here when they aren't in the market for web hosting).

Good advice on the trial. I'll ask whichever I decide to go with about that.

I've never used Ensim - but both DKTK and RT19 use Ensim, so that levels the playing field. I don't really like control panels anyway - none of them seem to do everything I need to do as well as I would like them to do it. As long as I can get shell access I can do anything I need to do. All the control panel does is make certain things easier.

I've got rt19 -- so far I don't have any problems with the control panel they use (Ensim). Some people don't like it. I can't say why since I'm new to it all.

So far everytime I've checked on things it was up and running. Now mind you, I don't use them for business at the moment, just for coding and learning.

The fella that runs the place answers my mails pretty quick. Sometimes within the hour, other times with a couple hours.

Now the IMPORTANT thing to keep in mind is that I've got the mini-reseller deal. So for $6.95 a month (or something like that) -- I can host 5 domains, and all kinds of other goodies. People say he uses congentco and they have a problem with that. Which I think is a load of crap. Just sour grapes since they are low priced.

Lastly, keep in mind if you need all kinds of support I don't know if how it works. For the price I'm paying I don't expect much. Just keep the thing running and I'm happy. Maybe answer a few of my stupid questions, and I'll keep with you.

Hope this help,

Dan

Thanks for the input Dan. I'm a web developer so I usually don't have many questions for a host once everything's set up and working properly. In fact, the only time my host usually hears from me is when something is broken! :D

As far as RT19's bandwidth, their response time from a NetMechanic.com monitor over 8 hours is just phenomenal. The tracerts to the IPs they gave me to check didn't show any Cogent hops (some Yipes though - I don't know if that's the same company or not).

I'll post back here whichever I decide to go with after awhile with my review, then.

No problem. Like I said, I'm new with them. But also, for $6.95 -- 5 domains --- etc. I'll stay for as long as the price stays. I'm actually really surprised to get ANY service for that price and 5 domains.

I know what you mean, I think the way I found cogentco on there is by looking at the name server. I ended up getting LJservice.net which then bounced to them -- or something. I'm not really a "host" guru. I'm a CGI/Perl guy that is now learning to tinker with other stuff, if all.

Good luck.

Dan
