View Full Version : << L@@KING 4 A MASTER RESELLER ACCOUNT >>
Web-Geekz 11-25-2009, 05:19 PM ;)Hi all. I am looking to find a MASTER RESELLER account, so I can restart my hosting biz. I was with a company called MyPowerHost.com until they Vanished from the internet. They took all my sites down and clients as well, pretty crappy! It has taken me a while to make thing right with my old clients and Now I want to start FRESH!!! Any suggestions?
RSkeens 11-25-2009, 06:07 PM If you want to offer reseller accounts then you should consider selling a few on a VPS or budget dedicated (just make sure it has RAID, etc). It's the safer option in my opinion, just make sure you go with a trusted provider.
You can then scale up to larger systems once you have made the necessary sales.
hostwebdata 11-25-2009, 06:21 PM I would start with a VPS and or go with dedicated if u have the budget
stellamaris 11-25-2009, 06:28 PM Search and compare, make sure you find a detailed information of what you are looking. I believe out there are lots of choices then take your time to compare quotes and qualification.

What is your budget?
When you search for a host, make sure you search and choose a reasonable offer. Don't fall for some unbelievable deals.
It's always true that you get what you pay for.
njoker555 11-25-2009, 11:00 PM I second getting a VPS. You'll have far better reliability and stability and a VPS provider is less likely to run. Most master resellers are probably alpha resellers and most of them are in for short term profit. There are a few that are still around after maybe a year or two in business but very few and I can't name any from the top of my head.
Go for a VPS if you want reliable service. Also make sure you do research before choosing the host!
XeHSean 11-25-2009, 11:30 PM If you are to go for a master reseller, as recommended above, definitely do not go for alpha master resellers as you can only run into problems in the long run. Either go for a managed master reseller package from a reliable provider or a VPS package if you are willing to pay the premium for managed service (I'd advise against getting an unmanaged VPS unless you know what you are doing).
With that being said, if you are still looking for a master reseller, what sort of a budget do you have? This will help us to point you in the right direction.
Web-Geekz 11-26-2009, 12:53 AM I would like to stay under $50.00 for the moment due to no revenue at this time. I think starting small and building up would be my best option but yes I like the idea of a VPS although I really dont know much about running a server my self but I guess I will have to learn how with a VPS!!!
trustedurl.com 11-26-2009, 01:08 AM Do you actually need a master reseller account? Why not start of with a regular reseller account, then work your way up, learn and get the experience to get a dedicated server, etc. ?
Web-Geekz 11-26-2009, 02:15 AM Yea your most likely right on that. would I still start with a Managed VPS? I need a VPS with Clientexec, cpanel, php4 and up, mysql, and just all the basics I am used to working with. If any one can help me with a "Hosting Start Up check list" That would kick AS*. Thank you all For your time so far.

$50/month? that's good budget for a decent VPS - a managed VPS so you don't really have to know EVERYTHING, the host would be able to help you out.
But if you mean $50/year for a reseller account then that's where you're running into trouble.
hostwebdata 11-26-2009, 02:27 AM with vps you will have more countrol then shared reseller account
Web-Geekz 11-26-2009, 02:45 AM ok let me clarify a little. $15.00 to $40.00 a month for a M. VPS!
XeHSean 11-26-2009, 02:46 AM with vps you will have more countrol then shared reseller account
Right but this is only useful if the client has administration experience and would like to manage his own VPS (or server). It sounds to me like the OP is looking more for a solution that does not involve him dealing with technical issues, so having more control isn't relevant to him ;)
njoker555 11-26-2009, 02:52 AM ok let me clarify a little. $15.00 to $40.00 a month for a M. VPS!
$40/month will get you a good VPS with a control panel - you'll have a lot more control, but if you just want to get a taste of the hosting business at first and then slowly expand, just get a regular reseller account and see how far you go with that. VPS is more expensive and much more time consuming to manage. If you have have the time and money then go with VPS. Otherwise take it slow, don't try to sell reseller accounts yourself from the start from a master reseller account. Most people make the mistake of doing things too quickly.
But I don't know your full situation after your first host so I'm just advising based on speculation from the thread.
linux2k 11-26-2009, 03:02 AM ok let me clarify a little. $15.00 to $40.00 a month for a M. VPS!
You can buy a decent VPS at $40, Find a decent deal under VPS Hosting Offers. With cPanel you can manage your VPS with average administration experience.
Web-Geekz 11-26-2009, 04:39 AM njoker555 I think you are right. I run a hosting company that was doing 328.00/ month in revenue, not a lot but it was a good start. My site was ran by CE with myself overlooking it! MYPOWERHOST.com handled all the technical stuff like name servers, backups, but I coded the site my self. how difficult could a managed VPS be? and if it is is the a place I can learn how to work one?
njoker555 11-26-2009, 05:13 PM Managed VPS is good if it is fully managed - they'll help you through most of it - even a semi-managed will get you started. I'm sure they'll show you how to connect to ssh, how to install certain scripts but after a while you'll get the hang of it and eventually you will earn more than $328/mo :)
good luck to you.
XeHSean 11-26-2009, 09:58 PM I'd also consider using a better control panel than CE this time - why not give WHMCS a try?
SunShellNET 11-26-2009, 11:09 PM Hi
Go for VPS with cPanel only if you have enough technical skill to fix any issue. Otherwise you have to buy management which indeed , will cost you little high.
Plus, go with a trusted VPS provider that have been around for a while.
Usually Master Reseller packages are something like $10 to $15 per month and you will get a tension free hosting. You can concentrate on Sales and boost up your sales in the meantime giving the support/server issues to your host.
I saw most of the clients go for VPS thinking that they can manage it alone and leave it after one or two months because they were unable to fix issues on it.
With cPanel , I am sure you'll see issues , at least once :)
Go for Reseller or Master Reseller if you are starting your business so that you can get full time for Sales rather than server administration.
hostwebdata 11-27-2009, 12:45 AM the only problem with cpanel with vps and that you need good RAM so make sure u get goodto run the cpanel
njoker555 11-27-2009, 12:47 AM cpanel needs 256 mb ram to function if I remember correctly. He would be fine starting out with just 512mb to 1gb of RAM.
SunShellNET 11-27-2009, 12:49 AM Yep, cpanel accelerated version for vps need only 256MB RAM . But that doesn't mean that only need 256mb ram. Apache eats up the full ram if you have a couple of high load sites :)
ForwardWebHost 11-27-2009, 01:26 AM I need one too :)
Web-Geekz 11-27-2009, 02:18 AM ok so what everyone is telling that I need a vps that is fully managed, has cpanel, and whmcs?
hostwebdata 11-27-2009, 02:31 AM Yes if you have the budget for that
trustedurl.com 11-27-2009, 02:38 AM ok so what everyone is telling that I need a vps that is fully managed, has cpanel, and whmcs?
Are you looking to sell reseller accounts yourself? Or shared accounts only? If so, then you don't need a VPS.
Web-Geekz 11-27-2009, 04:03 AM I am looking to sell reseller accounts as well as reg.(shared) accounts. Who Would you folks recommend? I trust your expertise to guide me in the right direction! Now understand that the company's your folks recommend I will research my self but there are so many of them out there it would take months to even come close to finding a hand full!
Please keep in mind that I need it to be managed, cpanel, and I need whmcs
Web-Geekz 11-27-2009, 04:16 AM well I think I am going to start with just a reseller account with innohosting, we will see how that goes!!
Thank you to everyone in this post for your help on this issue I was having!
hope you had a good turkey day!!!
XeHSean 11-27-2009, 05:16 AM Best of luck with them. Make sure to let us know how your experience is!
GregLand 11-29-2009, 04:59 AM One thing to remember is either you had the ability to manage the server(VPS) or hire a managed service provider. Master reseller account are a great way to build up your company..and learn as you go without having to learn server commands etc
Is there any particular reason why you *have* to be able to sell reseller accounts right off the bat? If you feel you have a justifiable one, then I would echo what others have said and look in to getting a VPS with cPanel. I can't recommend a VPS provider but I can say that the VPS Offers forum and an hour or so with the WHT search tool should be able to get you some good leads.
If you can't find a VPS in your budget that is to your liking, the same advice applies for finding a master reseller. Finding a master reseller that is reputable may prove to be more of a difficult task. I have read these forums regularly and have only come across one or two positive reviews for companies that offer master reseller plans.
Good luck!
Dave
