I have an account that was moved from Aletia to Jaguar PC. A few days ago I saw my stats in webalizer were only updated to the 12th and it was already about the 17th (November).

I submitted a trouble ticket and stats were then updated.

OK so far.

Today I see that I have webalizer stats only from 11/18 through 11/21. Everything else is gone. After submiting another trouble ticket, I was told:

The access logs(stats) are deleted periodically for all domains in the server since they take up a lot of disk space. The logs were rotated on 18th which caused the stats to be deleted. Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you due to this.

I've never had any host delete the webalizer stats before. I have an account with Front-Drive that goes back to July.

So, I want to know if deleting webalizer stats every month or so is how everyone else is doing it, because it sure seems wrong to me. I understand deleting the raw logs, but not webalizer.

How the he** can you do anything with the stats, if in the middle of the month they just disappear?

I had Netweaver suddenly start deleting logs. Completely annoying. I don't care how big my logs are, if I have space for them in my account, they should stay there. If growing too large, I'd delete them.

My advice would be to avoid such hosts, because they are effectively wiping user marketing information.

It's a disgusting practice, usually by the larger companies who no longer care abouit customer care because they have a large enough customer base to no longer care.
