Just curious here. Do most of the new customers go for the lower end plans, like the $5.95 plans, middle line, or the top end ones which seem to average around $29.95?

I know it really depends on their needs, but which need seems to be in most demand? Thanks.

I should probably think it's the $20-$30 plans...I personally use the $60-$70 plans though...those on dedicated servers will be paying into the hundreds.

Usually the lower priced packages sell. In the long run it isn't worth it.

Many of our customers start in the $10.00/mo range. On the contrary, a large percentage of our customers upgrade as their needs increase or they desire greater flexibility.

Are you talking about people new to paid web hosting? If so, most of them buy the unlimited plans from the scam hosts.

As a consumer, I never take the basic or lower plans since the hosts I use are smart enough to exclude one or 2 things I always need like Frontpage or mysql or add on a setup fee.

I usually end up at just below the middle plan unless I need to upgrade.

Very good point, and I would not doubt that for a second! Well I don't necessarily mean the true newbie webmasters. What I meant was more along the lines of new first time customers.

Well when I buy anything (goods or services) I usually go for the mid-line product. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. So deep down in my brain and from a psychological viewpoint, I always feel more comfortable with the decision if its a mid-line product. That is one reason I started this thread. To see if I and this thinking is the norm, or if there are tons more people going for the bottom plan rather than the mid-level plans. Thanks all for sharing your experience so far.

most want the Freee ones. If you dont offer the Free ones they go to somewhere else to look.

Our customers are excellent most have done their research and pay between 11.50 US to $30.00 USD

Kind regards

Our sales vary on a really large scale, it's a bit odd but we do have a few more lower end package buyers.

as a customer, i do go for what fits my budget and sacrifice if i don't have any nice features (mysql) and so on, but always do your homework first. ^_^

my 'basic' plan starts at $8.00. The details are 1gig space and 10gig transfers a month. Even i think its a damn good deal ;)

That is our highest selling service plan.

Our $9.95/mo plan is the biggest seller......

After years of free hosting, I finally switched to paid. I am really paranoid about my money, so I spent days in researching hosts before choosing the one that fit my needs best. My site is a fan-site dedicated to a single game. Although it is the only one and the biggest, the game is not very popular, so I didn't need much. That is why I picked the cheapest plan available. I really couldn't afford to pay much for a hobby site that doesn't bring even a $ back.

I am thinking - if people intend to make at least some money from their site they go with more expensive plans, if not, they go with cheap

I'm looking on behalf of two organizations:

One is my company - for that I'm willing to pay $8-10 or even $12.

The other is myself - I've got a little hobby/sideline/<self-publicity> going and for that I'm willing to pay 3, 4 or 5 dollars.

Suprisingly I've seen a lot more people asking for reseller accounts than regular virtual hosting. I would say that reseller pricing ranges from 19.99-49.99

Our ASPpro package for £22 a year sells most.
