Hmmm... Yea, their other site http://prioritycolocation.com is also down, and porcupine hasn't been as active as he use to around the board. I'm not sure what to say. Have you tried emailing him or calling their support line?

We are in the same boat as you. I noticed the all my sites down from 7:30 am Chicago time. Its 5:30 pm and still down.

For awhile, I did see their site up with the forum. But looks like its all down now.

Hmm weren't they moving data centers about now?

I would assume everyone would have been notified unless a couple of you slipped the cracks maybe?

I was moved to the new data center last week. Perhaps they are in a truck on the way to the new center.

Myles sent out an email last week about moving accounts to servers at a new datacenter. I changed my nameservers last week... no downtime for me.

Hello,

I also got some questions to ask to Myles about some features the new servers are lacking, but he hasn't replied any of my emails (he usually does it instantly) so I guess he's moving everything now. Yes prioritycolocation.com is down, also the forums, and I would guess email too.

For the people who could had any trouble receiving Myles' email about the server change:

Dear customer,

This email is being sent to notify you that your account resides on one of the servers we are currently transfering data from to the new Data Center. The servers client data for www2 will be moved to a new server called www4.prioritycolo.com, and the client data from www3 will be moved to a new server called www5.prioritycolo.com. Both new servers are moderatly more powerfull then the previous reseller servers, and are on a new, superior blend of bandwidth (yipes + peer1 + ottawa telecomm, 60+ private peers over TorIX, OttIX, and NyiIX). For information on the new Data Center that these new servers reside in, check out www.151frontstreet.com.

All clients will be moving to the new servers as www2 and www3 are going to be decommissioned, cleaned up, and then reused or resold, the sooner you contact me, the sooner you get on the new servers, and the longer we have to find any potential bugs before the old servers are shutdown. The only action necessary on your part should be changing your nameserver IP addresses, all of the client data, accounts, etc. will be moved on our side when we are contacted by Email (admin@prioritycolocation.com), AIM, or ICQ.

If you have any questions, please let me know immediatly, new servers are purring and just waited for your data, and any customers who do not contact me before the end of the move (evening of the 18th), will have their client data moved for them, and will be sent a notice with the new IP addresses to move/relocate their nameservers to. 0% downtime will occur with this move as both sets of servers are currently up while client data moves and DNS changes/IP changes propogate, we will not be held liable for any errors/downtime that occurs as a result of customers not renumbering their DNS servers (at all, or improperly). Pictures of the new facilities, ip's to traceroute and ping, etc. are all available upon request and can be provided when we process your account move.

Last, but not least, i wish i could have dealt with this on an individial basis for each client not with a mass impersonal clump of emails, but theres simply too many people to reasonably do that, when you contact me we will deal with your account on a 1on1 basis as the service you're used to getting, but for the general notification it just prooved to be too much. Please have your resource number/hosting package number and customer number prepared when you contact, if you dont know it (or dont remember), then it'll be looked up by your domain name the long way.

Regards,

Myles Loosley-Millman

I removed the MSN and AIM numbers just in case (Anyway I tried and it seems they're away) Hopefully tech support will be back today.

Actually I would have been in great shape at the new centers except I noticed that my DNS still points to the old IP address that is sitting on a truck somewhere. If I would have known to fix that I don't think I would have been down.

I knew a reseller account would not be easy.

Perhaps the original poster has the same problem.

Hey guys,

Well i knew there were gonna be posts on the issue (who didn't) so i figured asap i';d come and reply as soon as i got more immediate matters tended to. I'll keep this relatively short, as we have other servers to go online, but here's a summary:

Priority Colocation sent out notice to all server/colo customers 1-3 months ago about the move, presented options (when customers were contacted depended on the customer, available time, etc.), webhosting customers were contacted 2-3 weeks ago and had their data moved to new servers at the new facilities and were asked to renumber their ip's. Customers who responded to these emails were walked through by myself personally, and moved, a few never replied, so had their data moved, and were told what ip's they could move to. A few im assuming never moved their nameserver ip's (private nameservers) and are as a result down, and one or two kept saying "give me another hour" until the specified time had run out and we simply didn't have any more time to deal with them personally (their data was moved to the new servers, ip's were issued and released to them). Obviously dealing with the customers 1:1 was more sucessfull and had nary a hitch.

I find myself typing this at 9:30pm local time because our move got set back a LOT by the storm front pelting the east shores, we spent around 13 hours driving in heavy rain, and about 5 hours in heavy snow, which made the move take far longer then planned :(. Currently boxes are all up as promised, all were late by about 3-4 hours unfortunatly (from the original 30 hour window), but mother nature spoke, and well, we trembled in our little equipment van :D. Servers are being brought back up now for any clients who did not renumber to the new ip's in their startup scripts (so their servers are online, but trying to respond for the wrong ip range).

Hope that fills everyone in, as the email pasted before explains a lot of the circumstance, and benefits of this move.

If you've got any questions, i'll have our main domain back up (and my emails) tomorrow, our main website took a back seat and was given lower priority then all other clients, and unfortunatly the registerar has the domain locked and cant quite seem to grasp the concept of unlocking it so the new DNS servers can be put in place.

Regards,

jamenjaw

hehe. I have this image of a couple of petrified chaps in a big old van all singing -

"99 servers in the back of the van, 99 servers in the back of the van. If 1 of those servers should accidently fall, there'd be 98 servers in the back of the van.........." :D

5-6 hours would have been nice, original assesment we made was 30 hours planned downtime, warned 1-3 months in advance, Miami -> Toronto is a 2400km drive approx, so 35 hours was the straight drive with rest stops and food, no sleep :(, but hey, everything is up and purring except one server whose admin forgot to update us with the new root password it seems :D , and that ones got old IP addresses bound, oh well :D.

Myles,

Thanks for leaving the voice mail message after that long journey!

After I called you, I starting thinking why nobody else was screaming about the down time - escpecially here at WHT :).

I knew I was already moved to the new data center so I started to look at my name servers.

That was the issue! My bad! I never changed the name server ip address, only the host account ip addresses. Oh well what can I say! Sorry about that!

Stargate is already changing the name server ip address for me....

Hope you got some rest and can fine tune the rest of your servers!

Looks like we're almost done, shosts box will be tweaked by myself to assist him with the final stages of his move within 2 hours, and he's amongst the last. Move could have been smoother, but also could have been a LOT worse , fortunatly opensrs has *finally* unlocked the prioritycolocation.com domain! :D

Yes, the move had a couple of small bumps, but nothing major. I have to say that I am really really happy to have found prioritycolocation 4 months ago. After the nightmares I've had with other hosts in the past, I was starting to think there was nobody good out there.

My sites are up all the time, my hosting customers are happy, and Myles give extremely fast customer service. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Cheers, Myles.

I have a reseller account and I responded to Myles emails and everything was taken care of, all super-easily like.

I'm now up in the new DC and everthing is just splendid and it all happened with no downtime.

So I got nothing but the best things to say about Myles & Pricolo.

Of course, I was surprised the new DC is in Toronto. I didn't know they had internet in Canada yet. (I'm joking, relax! :D )

It's a cat5 cable running out of my igloo, all servers are supercooled by our frigid artic air :D.

I've got some pics, i'll put them up soon, it's of the new DC, but not full, need to get some of *after* the equipment was moved :)

I couldn't agree more with all the good things said about prioritycolocation (now prioritycolo?), Myles is always responsive and helpful for everything you might need :)
After a few little problems everything is working like a charm now.
Go Canada! (I'm from Argentina, though).

So... here goes...

Rumours has it that Canada send their navy to help attack Iraq...
