View Full Version : Do these people actually work for you?

I've noticed that for the past couple of years every hosting companys website I go to has a picture of some young cool looking support techs or sales staff.

I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about (and most of you have them on your site) but are these real people who work for you or are they just clip art?

Not knocking anyone or anything, just wondering

some examples are

http://www.softerweb.com/images/pic_women_medium_new.jpg

http://www.interkey.net/images/Are_You_Ready.gif

And so on.....

EDIT : Edited to say the images I choose were just the first examples I found, I thought they would be imbedded images rather then just links.

They're just stock images/clip art etc...

Of course they don't work for them, in the same way that no-one actually owns those 3000 dell xeon servers they have pictured on their website. (Well, some may, but rarely) :stickout:

Some employees refuse to have their pictures on the website...
so.. free images are everywhere.

I was joking. Except the comment about some of the tech people I know. I think we've found the missing link.

It's very common for large companies to use the same marketing people and thus use the same "models". I've seen one girl at a several "big name" websites.

We're not the first ones to do this. Call it marketing.

"Oh, she's sexy! I need to host there!!!!"

Heh.

There is another photo, I will see if I can find it, of a same lady that is way too many companies use it. I looked at 10 sites and 6 of them had that lady photo in it.

Found it, go to: http://humanclick.com - that is the one (lady on the left). I see that photo of this lady every day on some tech site.

Should not be a problem. Look at Aussie Bob's avatar on his site (he changed it now) and see how many people he has? I say he is running a great business and still had such a photo on the site.

Sorry, Aussie Bob, :stickout: :stickout:

You know a really funny thing could occur if the image was ripped and the "busted" site says "It was just some stock photography"
You could come back with "That pic is me you a$$ and I assure you I am not stock photography!"

Gary,

Can't tell from your photo with the shades, but since you are an avid rugby union fan, I'd have to trust you. League would be another matter.

My company site only shows mug shots of our trainers.

I'd like to, but probably not. We toured Italy this year.
And I was down a couple years ago.

Will probably set up tipping though.
