Sentris networks are using a method of calculating bandwidth that is the worst I have ever seen.
In September my server used 90.1kilobit per second. They overcharged on this amount when the plan I signed up for was a 48KB ps plan.
Their billing and sales departments are awful. Numerous times I asked them to return calls.
Refer to this (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82152) for more information. In the meantime here is the e-mail I just sent their company. I just wish to warn anybody looking to telehouse a server with them.
When I signed up for Sentris I sent a number of e-mails asking about your bandwidth charges and how they were billed. I was assured that the plan was 48kB per second (ie kilobyte) and that the average monthly usage would be about 450gigabyte of traffic. That was perfect. That was why I ordered a server.
For the month of September my server used 90.1 kilobit per second. You then proceeded to charge me overbandwidth because you said the plan was 48kb per second, i.e. 48 kilobit.
To date I have sent 35 e-mails and called 20 times at an expense to myself. About 10 of the calls and 15 of the e-mails I asked to speak to someone in person to clarify this situation, instead of the constant voicemails You failed to do so on all occasions, even after asking you to call myself.
The end result is for me unacceptable. Using your farcical method of calculating bandwidth no server would ever be able to use more than 15GB of traffic per month. Even more farcical is the fact that 48kpbs is below the speed of a modem. So you might as well plug this servers into a modem rack rather than an Ethernet one.
I quote from your own billing department:
kbps is kilo byte per second.
GB is Giga Byte (this is per month).
You have Special Server that comes with 15GB (48kbps) AVERAGE bandwidth per day (about 450GB total bandwidth per month)
The Daily Average = 48 kbps = Average 48 kbps
---------------
day
As you can see and I can forward this e-mail to you, I was quoted on a 48 kbps (you using incorrect naming conventions for kilobyte) server.
So in accordance with what I see as breach of the terms and conditions that I signed this agreement on, I wish to terminate my collocation of a server with you. I never will recommend you to anyone. Your support department hardware wise is excellent, and I’ll not fault them on any server related issues.
I have never in all my time of running servers and calculating bandwidth seen such a flagrant deliberate misguiding of the customer. If you were in my country, consumer watchdogs would have you raked over the coals in no time.
Take this e-mail as notice of immediate disconnection of our contract.
