View Full Version : Owned vBulletin License... Auction or Buyout

I still have a couple of Owned vB licenses that I need to set free.

The members area access, expires on November 7th, 2003 - after which you can either renew for 30 bucks or not. You still own the right to run the software for life (1 site per license of course)

Transfer of the license usually takes only an hour or two.

I'll run this as an auction. While I won't necessarily set a minimum starting bid, I am not going to just give the licenses away either.

Buyout price for the licenses are set at $130.00 USD

Payable via Paypal only (if paying by credit card, and not meeting the buyout price... there will be a processing fee passed on to the buyer).

I do reserve the right to not accept a bid, should it be below a reasonable price. Thanks for understanding this.

You may post your bids in the thread, or by PM.

License #1 - Sold to a member of sitepoint
License # 2 - Sold @ buyout price of $130.00 (by PM)

Thanks for the bids everyone!

Its now 1:00 AM where I am and time to hit the rack. I will not be back online until tommorrow evening sometime after 4-5 PM CST, maybe sooner or later, but I will be back none-the-less.

I do have an individual interested to barter for the license, but won't know further until tommorrow as well how that will pan out.

I certainly appreciate everyone's interest.

Hello Freedom,

I have one other offer on the table, which is being considered. I will let you all know something within 24 hours, which is when I will close the bidding.

The offer that was being considered, has been declined after careful consideration.

Just recieved a PM raising the bid to $120.00, anyone wishing to place a higher bid has until 8:30 AM CST to do so.

Thanks for your interest.

PM is not a fair auction. In my last auction, I declined all PMs and Emails to me. I specifically tell them to post.

Want to trade your license for an Enom reseller account?

right PMs are not cool.. like lets say its almost over and you have the highest bid and think 'cool I won'... but hold it someone PMed a higher bid but because it was in a PM you were unable to outbid them and win the auction.. :(

Want to trade your license for an Enom reseller account? Brandon, I respect the way you choose to run your auctions, it would be nice if you would do the same for others. A lot of auctions in the "real world" have live (warm bodied) bidders, call in bidders (annonymous), and bid by proxy.

With that said - no, I am not interested in your Enom Reseller account. Thanks for the offer though.

Freedom, I understand your point. The fact is, even if you had the highest bid... I made it perfectly clear that I reserved the right to not sell the license unless I felt the bid was high enough.

You stated that your cap was 115, even had that been the highest bid, chances are that I would not of accepted to sell the license for that price. If that is your ultimate cap, you could try to find another 49 people that wanted an owned license and you all could get one for around 110 each.

It is not mission critical, that I sell this last license... I just thought if someone needed it, and wanted to save a few bucks they could take the opportunity to do so.

Bidding is still open, by post, or PM.

Steve

I have 4 owned vb lic. one not in use and just always looking for a deal and/or help people sell things. If your buyout is 130 and you going to reject bids of 115 then why not just sell them for 130 and leave it at that? Why lead people on to think they could get a better deal?

Anywho I would not even buy it for anyprice anymore (even $50) .. as I merely agreed PMs are a odd and hassle way of doing auctions (nothing more ment nor directed toward this thread at all; just a statement in general.. I think you took it a little to much *to heart*).. so good luck :)

Freedom,

It was not taken as seriously as you expect, other than the fact of crapping on the thread. The fact that it was ok as long as you were top bid, contradicts your condemnation for auctions by pm.

I don't think I condemed you, nor Brandon for your thoughts. I merely refuted the comments. You are both free to run your auctions as you see fit, others can do the same, with or without everyone elses approval. As long as these things are done in regards to WHT forum rules, I don't see as to where anyone should have a problem with it.

Stating the fact you would not buy the license for 50 bucks, now... makes me wonder exactly who it is that got bent out of shape.

FWIW, had your scenario been the case, I would of had the descency of notifying the previous top bidder (by posting in the thread or PM, however they had bid) and making them aware of the latest bid... a going once, going twice... sold! sort of thing. In fact, I had already done this in PM once, as the bidder concerned had bid by PM.

Have a nice day.

Steve
