Hydro_Host 11-15-2009, 07:05 AM Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has used facebook adverts? Are they any good, and would you advise it?
Thanks
LVPSHosting 11-15-2009, 07:41 AM You can try it. Although I use if for a month or so and I have only 1 client till now which come form those adverts, but there are many visits on the web site, so I hope it is just a mater of time.
Never used it but not really the kind of place where people are looking for hosting.
Think you would get better results from ads at somewhere like WHT
DD-Mark 11-15-2009, 07:49 AM i used to use facebook, it wasnt for hosting or anything,
just a few personal websites, it didnt really help that much, because people how to browse for a percific category, and cant amagine many people do that using facebook
Exoware 11-15-2009, 08:36 AM We used it. Didn't really get any conversions through it.

Agreed...Most people on facebook think that their page IS their own website. SO why pay for hosting if you can get it for free at facebook? I've never thought about advertising a hosting service on a social networking site - Maybe another type of site.
Brightverse 11-16-2009, 08:36 AM Yeah Facebook probably isn't the best place to advertise, although Facebook's targeted ads are almost unparalleled due to the information they know about its users.
So I'd say if you were able to find a good demographic, it might be worth it.
BH-Greg 11-16-2009, 09:40 AM I used Twitter and no income.... =( you can try to use FaceBook, but I won't try. You'd have better luck getting clients by just posting on WHT forum and other hosting discussion forums..
webilly 11-16-2009, 11:43 AM I am going to try it too :D
SingleHopSteph 11-16-2009, 04:40 PM I don't see Facebook being a place where many clients will come from. There was a post about ebay too...I think it is best to try on the web hosting forums and word of mouth.
HostColor 11-16-2009, 04:46 PM I did, but I can not say that they work very good. At the same time I have seen that some Shared Hosting providers receive a large amount of visitors from Facebook, however I can not determine whether they advertise or get recommendations.
Hydro_Host 11-16-2009, 08:39 PM Been using it for a week now and had no direct sales from it. #fail.
kbduvall 11-16-2009, 10:26 PM I would imagine it wouldn't be a good place to spend your marketing budget at all. With the economy and the advertising industry the way they are, it's become more important than ever to target your advertising appropriately.
On the flip side though, the market can work in your favor right now. With the recent decline in advertising income it's easier than ever to negotiate lower prices and/or more exposure. Although you'd have to look for the smaller niche sites for that to have the best chance at success.
hostmeoffshore 11-17-2009, 06:17 AM Facebook ads are good.. They help a lot
keserhosting 11-17-2009, 12:29 PM Facebook are the more successful popular social networking sites.

We're not disputing that it is a popular social networking site...but using it to advertise hosting doesn't seem to be that successful.
coolwebhosting 11-18-2009, 12:15 AM I never used it i think its good though :)
TheUnlimitedHosting 11-19-2009, 08:16 AM Better not to spend your time with advertising on facebook, twitter. Little chance you'll get new customers from there. Join in Sitepoint, WHTalk, WHStuff, Webhosdir because this will help you get more new customers.
Hydro_Host 11-19-2009, 08:30 AM Thanks for the advise everyone. I have not had any success with it over the last week. I'm going to pull my add today.
Thanks Again! :)

ReadyRick 11-19-2009, 09:17 AM We have never tried Facebook, but I've considered. Facebook allows you to get very local with your ad placement, which can be a big help if you're looking to make a dent in your local community. It could be a great alternative to the newspaper, yellow pages, or those silly ValuePak mailers that come in the mail that always seem to be pitching local roofing companies.
