View Full Version : Billing software of your choice?
risoknop 11-14-2009, 07:01 PM So, which is a billing software of your choice? Why did you choose it and are you satisfied with it?
If you have used more than one billing software, please compare the ones you have experience with.
I'm trying to decide which billing software to use myself ;)
WingHost 11-14-2009, 07:09 PM I'm using WHMCS becouse it's easy to use and has many payment gateways. It's also easy to customize and you can easily fit it with your website.
BH-Greg 11-14-2009, 07:27 PM Many people will perfer WHMcs, its really good and easy to use. Try the free trail.
There's also clientexec, witch I would use if there wasn't such thing as WHMcs. But you might not like ether one.
e-Sensibility 11-14-2009, 07:38 PM +1 for WHMCS
Logic Surge 11-14-2009, 08:00 PM WHMCS is great, we like the fact that we can mod it to do whatever we need.
The_Dominator 11-14-2009, 09:17 PM i think whmcs will get over 90% vote
Jamie - HostATree 11-14-2009, 09:20 PM I used to be a CE fanboy but I lean towards WHMCS for a "out of the box" script, or Ubersmith if you've got the time/business model to take full advantage of it.
LVPSHosting 11-15-2009, 03:14 AM Definitely whmcs.
risoknop 11-15-2009, 07:36 AM What about the ModernBill? Anyone used it?
pgge3 11-15-2009, 07:43 AM 1 vote for WHMCS and by me. It is the most complete billing and automation script in the market. Another billing script that I used to use is AWBS which is also a very good script with many features available.
Harzem 11-15-2009, 08:07 AM What about the ModernBill? Anyone used it?
It's been quite some time since modernbill went downhill, and recently I've seen no one recommending it.
railto 11-15-2009, 08:48 AM What about the ModernBill? Anyone used it?
Plesk Billing as it is now called is probably the worst billing system available.
We currently use WHMCS as it is the easiest system to work with from an admin perspective and also the easiest to skin
wiredhosting 11-15-2009, 08:55 AM would be better if someone would have created a pool on this :)
I use ClientExec and it has fulfilled our expectations.
peter_anderson 11-15-2009, 10:56 AM ClientExec will get there, eventually.
I'm in contact with the developer (Alberto) over MSN, and I've seen the plans for the new interface (one of CE's biggest problems), and they look great.
inCaps 11-15-2009, 03:35 PM I started with and grew with WHMCS - great billing software and helps facilitate alot more than just billing!
<<<signatures to be set up in your profile>>>
Hydro_Host 11-16-2009, 08:40 PM 1 vote for WHMCS and by me. It is the most complete billing and automation script in the market. Another billing script that I used to use is AWBS which is also a very good script with many features available.
I use AWBS, may I ask why you converted to WHMCS?
OpticVPS Josh 11-17-2009, 12:27 AM WHMCS has always been the best solution for our company!
risoknop 11-17-2009, 06:09 AM What about Blesta?
keserhosting 11-17-2009, 08:50 AM Here another vote for WHMCS.
Hydro_Host 11-17-2009, 09:41 AM I vote AWBS.
blesta.
they have deals here sometimes, i got in on that $39 deal i think it was.. really really good, simple.. seriously i dumped modernbill and whmcs or whatever for it. never looked back.
inspiron 11-27-2009, 09:12 AM Most of them will recommend you to use WHMCS. Its great for the billing solution.
314Hosting 11-27-2009, 09:24 AM Here another vote for WHMCS. I would recommend WHMCS to everyone :)
Botham 12-01-2009, 04:13 AM AWBS - love it, not changing.
teachforjune-Scott 12-01-2009, 08:25 AM Why do you think it's that good?
5wayshost 12-01-2009, 09:37 AM A happy user of WHMCS ! :)
BarackObama 12-01-2009, 09:48 AM What about WhmAutopilot?
bdnero 12-01-2009, 09:53 AM I am not unhappy with AWBS but I feel more comfortable with WHMCS.
SafeAndSoundHost 12-01-2009, 04:48 PM Just wanted to add another vote for WHMCS.
Cape Dave 12-01-2009, 05:55 PM I have just begun to use WHMCS and it really does alot. I am amazed at how much it does. I use it not just for hosting but for invoicing for my consulting business also. Works great for that, plus gives each client their own login area!
Softsys Hosting 12-01-2009, 06:39 PM We are using WHMCS for a little over 3 years now and it works great!
HostXNow 12-01-2009, 08:42 PM WHMCS for the win! xD
DATARTIM 12-01-2009, 10:09 PM For shared/reseller/vps hosting WHMCS.
For dedicated/colo/etc Ubersmith
citycm 12-02-2009, 08:31 AM Another vote for WHMCS. I love the way that it supports multiple servers and so it creates new hosting accounts on the least occupied server.
Dave Parish 12-02-2009, 08:34 AM WHMCS is getting to the point to allow a lot of the smaller start ups to be ready to do business right out of the box without a lot of hard core configuration like the old modernbill required and it's a bit cheaper as well.
Hannan 12-02-2009, 09:46 AM We using WHMCS and it's great!! I think it's the best one around :)
Patrick 12-02-2009, 10:22 AM I used to be a CE fanboy but I lean towards WHMCS for a "out of the box" script...
I also used to be a huge ClientExec fanboy, however I feel like the company has lost it's vision and instead of innovating they are playing catch up to WHMCS and doing a piss poor job at it while taking far too long. I remember people arguing with me about my decision to pick ClientExec over WHMCS, kind of regret it at this point because the migration is going to be tedious.
ClientExec v4 is supposed to be great but my expectations are about as high as the Toronto Maple Leafs making the playoffs this year... but hey, at least it'll have a pretty login screen!

hossein_salehi 12-02-2009, 10:46 AM WHMCS is great, we using that
fantome2024 12-02-2009, 12:56 PM whmcs.com is pretty awesome lot of automation
hossein_salehi 12-02-2009, 01:28 PM recently WHMCS support is not well unlike before but the software is power and a few times may be need to send ticket for your problems,
timtrott 12-30-2009, 11:09 AM Add my vote for WHMCS and AGAINST Modernbill/Parallels, for two reasons: First, WHMCS works so much better than Parallels, but more important is the support. WHMCS is easy to contact, quick to respond and provides excellent answers. Parallels is the exact opposite: impossible to contact, slow to respond and vague or even totally incorrect in their response. PB 6 appears to be nothing more than a rebranding of PB5 with the sole purpose of tricking PB4/5 owners into being locked into a lease. The installer has issues (kept leaving out entire directories), the annual hosting accounts suddenly turned into "free hosting", and for me the key for the "upgrade" would not install correctly (blank page), and it took Parallels a week to respond after an extensive series of emails and phone calls. I finally got their attention by blocking the credit card payment to gain my freedom.
I have no idea how Parallels remains in business. Even Parallels' web site is defective - broken links, expired SSL certs, abandoned dead end sections, documentation that suddenly becomes 404, support and doc links in the software that go nowhere and somehow I found I had different account logins at several different locations. The pervasive software and support failings of Parallels is quietly acknowledged even by their largest institutional partners.
WHMCS easily imported my Parallels data, their support people responded quickly to my questions, they were even nice when I asked dumb questions, the documentation is good and easy to find, and it was amazingly easy for my billing department to adapt to the new WHMCS program. Tasks like reversing a misapplied credit that were hair-pulling experiences with Parallels are simple with WHMCS.
Seriously, switching from Parallels/Plesk Billing to WHMCS is like turning on a light or shifting out of first gear into drive. WHMCS is easy to use, the support is excellent, it integrates very well with the most common server managers, and most important, the program works really well.
HTTPbit 12-31-2009, 01:01 PM +1 for WHMCS
WinkHoster 12-31-2009, 01:53 PM Has to be WHMCS
BH-Greg 12-31-2009, 04:56 PM WHMcs is a very good well known software that many many host and web designing providers use. They offfer a free 15 day trial I do belive get one and test it.
Other than that you can try clientexec there good.
xenex 12-31-2009, 05:25 PM It's got to be WHMCS, they simply can't be beaten, I have been using them for over 5 years, I have never found another system with as much features and control.
GCosta 01-01-2010, 08:48 AM +1 for WHMCS
Mikey this way! 01-01-2010, 12:22 PM WHMCS +1
Great Piece of Software.
ASHCN 01-01-2010, 12:58 PM WHMAP FOR US, WHMCS looks good but similar to CS.
ars07 01-12-2010, 04:51 AM One more vote for WHMCS. It's the easiest system to work with from an admin perspective and also very easy to integrate and skin.
appvzcom 01-12-2010, 09:05 AM I choose WHMCS and Clientexec.
pacifich 01-12-2010, 11:34 AM As I can see, WHMCS is the best one!
lockdown 01-12-2010, 02:08 PM Yeah deffinitly WHMCS +1 for me aswell, I've tried several others but there just aren't many good ones that are also easily installed and managed.
HostXNow 01-12-2010, 05:15 PM Hasn't WHMCS won yet lol ;p
kLiamk 01-12-2010, 05:30 PM I used to use WHM Auto Pilot because i thought than WMHMCS was complicated. But actually it turned out very easy and i have never looked back since. Supports pretty much everything a small or medium size hosting company needs.
alex-developer 01-12-2010, 07:21 PM my vote for ClientExec, I know that some features are missing (like credit to client account), but I still like it.
-cyberwizard- 01-12-2010, 08:27 PM i used a bunch of billing systems when we first started off phphostbot some others.but now whmcs is the one that we rely on it has allot to offer.
Roya1 01-13-2010, 01:20 PM WHMCS is the most popular now
but seems Parallels Business Automation is good solution
shackrat 01-14-2010, 09:44 PM Another fine WHMCS customer here too!
redaksi 01-15-2010, 06:22 AM clientexec +1 :D
DewlanceHosting 01-16-2010, 04:24 PM i am use phpCOIN, my vote for phpCOIN.
WHMCS is 99% encrypted script, you can't customize everything but phpCOIN is 100% source script, you can edit anything :D
UsefulPC 01-16-2010, 06:20 PM +1 WHMCS here, definitely the best
sharmaine1111 01-17-2010, 02:05 AM blesta.
they have deals here sometimes, i got in on that $39 deal i think it was.. really really good, simple.. seriously i dumped modernbill and whmcs or whatever for it. never looked back.
Im hearing good feedback about Blesta too but they must add more domain registrar if they want to compete against whmcs
florenceit 01-17-2010, 04:50 AM i just am finishing up my AWBS troubleshooting (i mean, install) today! support really tried helping me but honestly i fixed my own issues over a grueling 48 hour period of learning and and troubleshooting at the same time. support did of course guide me in the right direction frequently, which sped me up. i'd give them a B or B-
it is my first billing software experience so i can't judge against much. to be fair with support i just jumped in not knowing anything and they basically helped me do setup for free. i also find configuring it somewhat archaic. theres no wysiwyg, all css,php and html. still its documented well so i could figure it out (not coder). their wiki is pretty decently accurate and detailed as a support/learning resource.
so with those compaints behind me : i bought it for its feature list , price and cpanel integration and it works beautfully so far. it does even more than i realized but thats just my newness to this type of software im sure. so yes... its powerful.
harrysmith31 01-17-2010, 07:24 AM I have used both Modernbill and WHMCS but my vote would be for WHMCS here, definitely it's the best and have many useful features.
awhost 01-31-2010, 08:42 PM I just looked at WHMCS again and it still fits my original impression. The thing is just ADD-ridden. I tried it once since everyone liked it. I couldn't get used to it. There are too many options all over the place. I felt the customer would get lost easily.
teachforjune-Scott 01-31-2010, 09:12 PM I find it quite organized. I haven't had any issues with whmcs.
awhost 01-31-2010, 09:18 PM See:

Why does a new client just signing up need a link to Knowledgebase, or Client Area, or Submit Ticket?
---
http://demo.whmcs.com/cart.php?gid=1
This is very ugly and limited when compared to AWBS.
---
http://demo.whmcs.com/index.php
Most of my customers are not techy people.. They often don't even take the time to learn cPanel and ask me to do the most basic tasks. What is the point of this portal page with so many options? Why do the options repeat on the side?
---
I really liked ModernBill for a non-templated system, but I don't see why people like WHMCS.
WHMCS-John 02-01-2010, 12:31 PM You can edit the templates and remove any options your customer base may find confusing or surplus to requirements. That's the beauty of it.
awhost 02-01-2010, 02:32 PM Perhaps, but aren't most systems customizable to some degree? I didn't feel like hacking it up to make it work for me when other systems looked sharp out of the box.
TheRootLogin 02-01-2010, 02:50 PM My vote for WHMCS. Very popular and reliable software
Disrelation 02-01-2010, 09:07 PM WHMCS is the best and as you can see, the most recommend by this community as well as other communities in this market.
I use whmcs and it's very user friendly billing software
DavidBoon 02-02-2010, 10:04 AM I use ClientExec and it serves the support and billing departments very well and easily. Also its price is very good too.

Can you provide links or screen grabs to AWBS equivalent pages? I've not used either but amd starting to look into the options, so it would be really useful to see the comparison rather than just go by your statements
start 02-03-2010, 10:13 PM We use WHMCS and had no issues whatsoever.
Hostingadvisor 02-05-2010, 02:30 PM WHMCS is great billing system with overwhelming options
shadowdar 02-06-2010, 11:07 AM I have tried a couple of the free ones you can get with fantastico a while ago before I started selling hosting. When I started selling hosting I found WHMCS and pretty much never looked back. It integrates so easily with WHM and is very easy to modify to fit into your website. Download a couple of free trials and try out some before you decide but I as well would say go with WHMCS.
