View Full Version : nocster/burstnet orders?
jasonkw 11-20-2002, 08:09 PM Placed an order yesterday for a thanksgiving sale dedicated server. Am I supposed to receive a setup email within 24 hours? I have received nothing - no order confirmation, or if the server was even available (it said there were still 2 when I ordered it).
How long do I have to wait for this sort of stuff?
SoftWareRevue 11-20-2002, 08:36 PM Have you written to them and asked?
jasonkw 11-20-2002, 08:59 PM Yeah. I sent an email this afternoon, no reply yet.
BurstNET 11-20-2002, 09:06 PM If you ordered yesterday, your server will be completed no later than this evening.
We have been timely for all these sale orders this time around.

jasonkw 11-20-2002, 09:13 PM Great :). One question: yesterday, the page said "9GB SCSI drive" for the $49 Celeron. Today, it says "20GB IDE". I ordered one of those - which drive do I get? If I can pick, I'd pick the IDE.
mainarea 11-20-2002, 11:03 PM Sean,
I think it would be good for the next sale to include more 20GB IDE drives, because they costs less than the 9GB SCSIs (but I guess you get more in upgrade costs for the SCSIs, so either way...). I got a 20GB IDE, and may eventually upgrade another 20GB, but the SCSI prices scare me away from machines with SCSIs.
(Wait... just checked the site, a lot of 9GB SCSIs have been replaced with 40 & 60GB IDEs... :) )
Will you ever implement one time memory upgrade fees? The last server I got only came with 128MB RAM, now all the sale servers come with at least 256MB RAM. Monthly memory fees aren't too appealing to me.

DarktidesNET 11-21-2002, 05:26 AM Would anyone recommend Nocster? Good connectivity/uptime ... many problems, etc?

Would anyone recommend Nocster? . . . . . . Absolutely, and without reservation. We've been real happy with the level of service and support. I still don't know how they do it at that price. But, it can't be beat. I highly recommend them for an affordable managed server.
DarktidesNET 11-21-2002, 08:14 AM Good to hear. I might sign up for a server today, waiting for a reply to my email though (pre-sales). I do hope their support is far better than their AIM support.
jasonkw 11-21-2002, 08:52 AM Hmm...still haven't received my setup email yet. I'm going to email them again. It's definately past 24 hours already.
jasonkw 11-21-2002, 01:24 PM Now I'm starting to wonder if the order even went through. :(. Am I supposed to receive any order confirmation email after I order? The only thing that happened was that it redirected me to a Thank You page.
Morgan Harvey 11-21-2002, 02:13 PM We didn't get any confirmation emails either, just the server access details. Oh, and yes, I recommend nocster. :)
jasonkw 11-21-2002, 04:19 PM Just got an email from them saying they're getting more hardware - they ran out. :( So much for the 24hrs setup guarantee.

akaize 11-21-2002, 05:53 PM I am palning for a AMD Athlon™ XP 1600 1.4Ghz which now comes with a 60GB IDE HDD. My only one concern is the backup. If for any reason the HDD crash:mad:
What is the best backup option?
BurstNET 11-21-2002, 06:11 PM << Just got an email from them saying they're getting more hardware - they ran out. >>
We have not run out of hardware.
We have a ton of hardware in stock.
We have been up to date/time on all orders for this special, except the custom order/os ones that we tell people may take longer.
I don't know who you are, so I cannot check on your specific server...but most likely the welcome/access email didn't reach you.
Email me your info to sean@burst.net and I'll research it for you.
