I want to start using my RAQ4 for DNS. Right now, I use an offsite company for DNS. I followed the instructions on the pkgmaster website and added DNS entries as follows:

drdaul.com --> 209.205.176.20
www.drdaul.com --> 209.205.176.20
drdaul.com --> mail service high --> www.drdaul.com

I still can not get the domain to resolve. When I go to www.dnsreports.com and use that, it returns info. I can also ping the domain name.

My colo company gave the ip 209.205.176.20 and named it bayou2.sstar.com. I used that to created the nameserver (bayou2.sstar.com).

He gave me another ip address which I can going to use for the secondary nameserver (bayou3.sstar.com).

Now the question I have is why is the domain not resolving. Does the server have to be named bayou2.sstar.com? right now it is named raq4.wlg3.com.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks

Either you fixed it, or it just works??? It works for me any ways. It could have been cached. We have a lot of problems with DNS servers caching addresses for days.

It looks like it's working. For the record though, in case someone else is trying to learn, some steps you didn't mention:

You would need to register bayou2 and bayou3 as nameservers with the domain registrar where sstar.com is registered.

Then change the registration of the drdaul.com domain to use bayou2 and bayou3 as its nameservers.

Then create a site on your RaQ as bayou2 with the proper IP, and another site as bayou3 with the other IP.

Once you do this it will take 2-3 days before it all starts working.
