Greetings everyone:
It seems a lot of people who run servers and participate in the Web Hosting Talk forums also use Alerta’s Web site monitoring service to let them know if their server(s) are down.
Our monitoring system was developed around the same time as Alerta’s.
NTT/Verio has been using it for every one of their enterprise customers since January 2001. General Motor’s Product’s training division uses it, and a lot of other customers ranging from the very small to the very large. Bottom line: It has been battle tested.
Depending on the frequencies and types of health checks you want to monitor, We Manage Server’s monitoring system is more economical than Alerta’s.
See http://www.wemanageservers.com/monitoring/monitoring.html for more information on our comprehensive network monitoring system.
Call Jake Winemiller toll free at 1-888-691-9287 or email at solutions@wemanageservers.com for more information.
Mention that you use Alerta and heard about this offer on Web Hosting Talk, and we will set you up with a free two week trial.

I do not want to sound like a idiot or very mean person here but give me 5 good reasons why we should trust you with alerting us when our server is down when alerta hasnt ever failed anyone (that I know of, anyone who would beg to differ please post)
I only ask since this is a pretty important responsibility and their are ALOT of fly-by-night companies on this board.
-Thanks in advance

Not that I wish to discredit anyone but alot of companies to do this and that. I would like to know about their system, how long they've been in business etc.

Greetings:
Dynamic Net, Inc. has been in business since June 1995 (started as PMP Computer Solutions, then incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania on January 21, 1998).
See http://corps.state.pa.us/basicentity.php?entityno=2662275 for when the DBA was filed for PMP Computer Solutions (it was filed 4 months late).
See http://corps.state.pa.us/basicentity.php?entityno=2795734 for proof of incorporation on that date.
See http://corps.state.pa.us/basicentity.php?entityno=2978515 for the DBA filing for We Manage Servers.
NTT/Verio's enterprise customers typically pay in the double digit thousands of dollars for hosting. There is no room for the monitoring system to fail.
NTT/Verio has been using our system for every single enterprise customer since January of last year. That should speak for something <smile>.
The monitoring equipment is based off of high end Sun servers (E420R model).
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.
P.S. A free trial never hurt anyone <grin>.

Greetings:
Some key points about our system as compared to Alerta's:
* We do provide data centers and hosting providers with a Customer Care and Security Module (all included in the pricing).
This allows the provider to sign up new customers, get a hot list of customers currently having what type of problem, and set up security which allows their customers to log into the system and limits the actions their customers can do while logged in.
* The system does have database and performance monitoring. The database monitor runs user-supplied queries to determine if there is a problem; this is a fast improvement than just checking to see if the port is open.
BTW, port monitoring does allow you to specify a string to send to the port and a string to receive from the port; this allows you to make sure that SMTP (for example) is really running on port 25 -- not just that port 25 is open.
The performance engine has a plug in capability which allows you to integrate any script, in a variety of scripting languages, into the system.
For example, you can write your own script that not only checks to see if HTTPS is working, but will restart the HTTPS server if it is not. Or trim down log files, etc.
* Each monitored event has one distribution list to alert when there is a problem; each distribution list can have unlimited contacts.
* You can set up unlimited escalations where a separate distribution list (unlimited contacts) is notified if a problem continues to exist.
For example, you may want to notify level 2 technical support if a problem continues beyond 30 minutes, the managers of level 2 if the problem continues for 60 minutes, another team if the problem still exists after 90 minutes.
* Each contact within a distribution list can set up the verbosity of the errors (how much information to receive), and the number of alerts they want to receive before the system automatically shuts up – “I know already, I know!”
You can also tell the system you know about a problem via the web or email so that notifications stop.
* Multiple maintenance windows can be set up so down time alerts will not be sent for equipment under scheduled maintenance.
* Up time reporting is included to let you know when the problem has been solved along with the total time span of down time.
* Browser-based reports and email-based subscriptions can be set up (the browser-based reports are in real time) to show down time per server within a date range.
And more…
Thank you.
