I am a webdesigner and currently have 4 sites of my own, running off small W2K server out of my office. I am able to FTP my uploads, and add email accounts as well. Using free FTP Server and Email software. Running off my DSL line. Worked great so far.
I have gotten request to host site for others, but I have no interface for them to manage there accounts. So I would like to start off small hosting service to host my sites and other clients as well who are looking for hosting there sites.
So what is a good way to start hosting some websites for others and charging a little extra to make a profit or break even. I want them to have access and upload to there sites via a control panel. I here Cpanel is good.
Any ideas on starting out?

It sounds like you're looking for a reseller's account. There are many good providers here who can get you up and running. Do a quick search for "resellers" to see what this entails.
Best of luck!

Reselling does not take to much technical knowledge at all, you purchase the hosting and you can resell it to your client for any price you wish creating excellent revenue for your business while not having to spend the extra money for startup equipment and staff!
Your customers are not forgotten in this feature rich reseller packages! Each domain you set up also gets access to its own Control Panel (CPanel) were its owner can add, delete, forward, and redirect emails, setup ftp accounts, sub-domains, Mysql, forums, counters or even setup there own shopping carts

Reseller Accounts are also known as multiple domain hosting accounts. As for control panels the big three are all good: cpanel, plesk ensim.

Thanks Why should someone align themselves with someone that can't follow simple forum rules?

If there was 1 main difference between a reseller account and Multiple Domain Hosting - it would be that a reseller account, you get personalised nameservers and with Multiple Domain Hosting, you don't need personalised nameservers.

The opposite is the also the same Bob. We have provided personalised nameservers with multi domain accounts Bob, and some reseller accounts don't want them.

Yep. We have clients who want personalised nameservers just for their own domains. But all resellers really need their own nameservers, IMO. :)
