Are you trying to open a swf file? You can't. Raw files in Flash are .fla.
You should be able to use a .swf as a movie clip, depending on what it is.

Depending on where the .swf file is located. You can open it in FLASH 5.

If you have it on your local drive then just choose import or open (try it both ways). if it is on a site/server, when you choose open or import, paste the whole url in the file name box and see how you turn out.

Good Luck!

BTW - of course if it is p/w protected then you "should" be out of luck, but of course if it is yours and you have just happened to forget the p/w then you should look for some "other solutions";)

Thank you for your answers.....

Maybe I did not clear my question..... I made a banner in Swish, and I wanted to make it a gif file, what I used to do with Flash 4 was make a new movie with same H/W and then import the file in it, then export it as a gif file, and it worked very well......... but for some reason, it's just not helping (The Flash 5).
Any other ideas?
