We have been working with USD for a couple months, and we decided to change all the prices in our site do EUR.

We noticed a small loss in sales.

Does anyone have experiences with this? Do you charge your customers in EUR or USD?

We have customers worldwide.

Well as a consumer I can tell you I prefer USD prices.

USD is still preferred.

On another site I run, I've had a few users ask what the € sign is, or what the Euro is.

okay this is the best of both worlds.

You can code your html file so when some one from visits your site from Europe you show euros and from any were else you show dollars.

This is actually an excellent idea actually.

But on topic,
I think it should do with wherever your datacenter(s) are located.

Why not show both? Something like $4.99/mth | €3.39/mth maybe?

That doesn't matter. Most European customers prefer usa data center because they are more reliable and faster.

that is to confusing

We have clients from different countries and we write prices in USD. I believe USD is still the most popular currency in world, that's why only USD is used on our site.

However, customer can convert USD into his local currency on payment gateway

More steps which you have for your buyer more chances they wont buy your service.
Keep it Simple

However, customer can convert USD into his local currency on payment gateway

Yah that is true

Well personally I prefer the pound over the dollar and euro simply because I am from the UK and I know exactly the cost where as with other currencies costs can flucuate.

Good Points made here. I think the most important is reliability and options. People tend to trust there own currency. I belive it was mentioned you can code your site to what ever there ip area is for currency. I wouldn't do that as much as have a menu on the left hand side or so) to list prices in x countrys.

I think it would almost be safe to say the USD is the currency of the internet. In some cases I see companies display prices based on the location of the visitor, but in most cases pricing is displayed in USD unless the company specifically targets a country.

That's complete nonsense , what do American Data centres magically have that european data centres dont have to make them more reliable? Considering that some of the biggest data centre providers in the US had outages within the last year?

Also speed is dependent on the physical location of the customer to the data centre they are accessing so therefore , european customers would naturally have faster speeds to european data centres.

But however back on topic , as one user suggested simply write a script that displays the pricing based on the IP range the user is coming into your site from.

if you are using whmcs then the customer can chose what currency they want to see the price in, we currently have our main currency as GBP, then EUR and USD as others, if a client wants to pay in EUR or USD they select it and will show the products in their currency.

I strongly agree that US datacenters are not special. If datacenters in US are more popular, it does NOT mean they are better.

With international scams running rampent, I would only look for USD - Not that none of them arent using it, but as a US consumer I feel more comfortable.

So if company lists its price in USD, does it mean you won't be scammed? :)

Most of the big hosts use USD. If you view your alexa rank and view the countries that view your webpage you should be able to see what is the best option for your website.

I always get turned off when I see Pounds or Euros. I find it pretty troublesome to check the current currency exchange rate to get the cost of the good(s) in USD.

I would keep using USD.
€ or even worst £ scare a lot of clients.

I wouldn't say they are scared of EUR, they just may feel not very comfortable.

USD is the most widely accepted currency today so I think that US Dollars is a better option than EUR.

This has got me thinking. I am uk based and don't really want to change to USD. I offer £.

Do people think it would be best to list several currencies?

Like most people and companies I would prefer to see my regional currency, also for consumers include VAT, for business users have the option to have prices without VAT.

If your base price is in USD and you have European customers it's always good to offer them a conversion because they are very much aware of the exchange rate and sometimes seem amazed what they can afford and tend to buy more than they originally intended.

I think its better to display prices in USD and EURO in separate pages..which user can choose

IMO, the currency rate is irrelevant.. Let's say your a host in the UK, but providing prices in USD. Your basically going to workout your price in £ and then convert it into $. So to someone in India or USA seeing those prices, its already going to scare them because it would appear expensive in USD...

Saying that, offering multi-currency is a benefit to your customers, as it saves most of them paying conversion costs.

If your customers are world wide then your website should be showing local pages based on the IP of the customer.

Customers in Europe get shown Euros

Customers in US in $

etc.
