View Full Version : Another Logo Contest - $20
Another Logo Contest - $20
Hi,
After some begging, the boss is letting me re-design our subdomain site, and I am stuck on the logo. IsNames.com (please do not make fun of the current design)
The logo need not be blue, but it should look good with blue.
I'll pay $20 via pay pal or credit card if I select a winner.
If you are a new designer, and want a years hosting (simular value) instead, I can arrange that.
How about Friday the 22nd for an ending date sound?
Thanks in advance.
The winner for those who don't want to scroll:

Jeff-Rd 11-19-2002, 08:16 PM Hello,
I made two concepts which you can view at http://www.pixeldaze.com/promo/isnames/
Let me know what you think.
PS- I mis-spelled the name on purpose instead of watermarking it.
Best Regards,
Jeff @ PixelDaze Studios

knucks, yes "IsNames.com" would be good.
I'm impressed so far!
billz 11-19-2002, 09:44 PM if you like mine and have any suggestions i will gladly change it around right now for you :)
Billz, If I had suggestions, I might be better at designing logos! :D
I have found whatever pops into a designers head, is often better than what would be suggested, so I left it open.
It is my opinion however, that because the site will be basically plain, the logo should be somewhat exciting.
If I said which ones I like already, I'm afraid people will begin to simply produce variations of them.
Acroplex 11-19-2002, 11:37 PM My entries - one has effects, the other is "flat". These colors can contrast various shades of blue, or use the inverse spectrum.

Acroplex 11-21-2002, 12:24 AM Another variant, for the kick of it, against basic blue.
DLevit 11-21-2002, 08:47 PM Here is my try. If I win just email me at dlevit@turbine7.com
About 23 hours left, (remember I am on EST) and at this time I would like to say that so far I appriciate all of the submissions. I really like half of them, and I really, really like a quarter of them.
I have saved each one, as is, on my HD with username_homepageurl-imagenumber to keep them all straight. The only reason I saved them is to view offline, and I named them accordingly so that we can get in touch with the artist.
If anyone is willing to change the lettering on their design, we may have a second winner - for the same amount, and with your permission, of course. I realise the contest was for one name so you are entitled to say "No" with no hard feelings, ok? I would contact you privately, and only make it public if you agreed.
Finally, most likely, I will post the winner, on Saturday. Why? Because I have to sleep sometime.
PWH-Scarab 11-22-2002, 04:54 PM Changing a font is no big issue, just let me know.
Oh, I was tired. (still am) I didn't mean font, I meant another domain name. The fonts are ok with the logos as is.
I had invited others to help me chose, and we were thinking some of the designs were too good to waste. Then I remembered we have a seven letter .us domain (2 letter first word, and a 5 letter second word) that needs one, and because the number of letters is simular, I thought I'd see if anyone minded if we add a second place option.
* three more hours *
8:30 pm my time, and I have a date with my pillow.
Sweet dreams all.
* that means contest is officially over, and I will post winner(s) tomorrow *
PWH-Scarab 11-23-2002, 04:49 PM So ATST, how did things go, did you find the "look and feel" that you were going for with this talented bunch?
I'm curious to see who the lucky winner(s) were, as there was some pretty stiff competition.
You are right, and although I had a tough time, I'll skip over the details and get right to the winner:

I'd like to thank all who participated. You all showed lots of talent. There were some really close contenders, and I saved all your URLs for future reference.
Acroplex 11-23-2002, 08:51 PM Thanks ATST...I almost spilled my drink while reading that I am the winner :D
Congrats to all that participated and to ATST, because that's a prime example of a great contest here in WHT.
ATST, please email me at your convenience for the PSD and further details. Thanks!
Opps, I just PMed you and hit send, before comming back to see if anyone posted yet.
I didn't want to keep people wanting, so I posted first.
You can use ATST at you know, the logo's addy.
imago-allan 11-23-2002, 09:34 PM Congratulations timechange!
ATST,
I would like to personally thank you for conducting this contest very well. Also, this should serve as an example what logo design contest should be.
And by the way, by announcing the winner and pointing out the winning entry, you have somehow given WHT another "PLUS"
points and inspired other designers to join some contests.
As always for me, honesty IS the only policy.
Take care all.
:)
Acroplex 11-23-2002, 09:36 PM Thanks consul :D I couldn't agree more.
SimonMc 11-24-2002, 06:20 AM Well done Timechange.
Simon
Well consul, that's how I thought contests were supposed to work. I kinda copied the idea from someone else, but you know I don't actually recall many (if any) winners posted before. I thought maybe it was posted, but I didn't see it or something.
I realise when an artist puts their work out there, they are exposing themselves to the judgement of others. That's not an easy thing. Sometimes even taking a chance that their work will be used without acknowlegement (or payment). On the other hand, they are also showing their work to potenial clients as well. The benefits are should outweigh any drawbacks. Just look at the number of downloads each design got! Pretty cool.
Oh, and lets not forget part 2 of the "well run contest" equation. After I paid timechange, I got the files within minutes. Of course I would have waited a bit longer if he needed to prepare them or something.
Simon, your design was pretty cool too.
My motto always has been "If I can't make a buck honestly, I don't want it"
