Anyone care to comment on their experiences moving clients from one host to another (or one server environment to another)?

With Cpanel on both servers makes it real simple. Otherwise just TAR up the user's folder and setup the new account on the other server with the same specs.

Thanks.

However, I meant when you go from one environment to another (one type of panel to another type).

Obviously, if it were an "apples-to-apples" move, there would be no need to raise the question.

It doesn't matter if it's CPanel, Ensim, or anything else, if they are the same.

I have seen numerous posts by folks that have used several hosts in the past, and I am guessing that they were not using the same control system in each new place, unless that was a requirement when they moved.

We just did a move of around 40 customers from a server with no control panel to an ensim box... to be honest...

It was a nightmare! :)

We FXP'd all the files direct from server to server, but had to manually backup all the MySQL databases and move those.

Then the server paths for some scripts were wrong so we had to go through fixing loads of scripts :)

We suffered no downtime and it went ok... but very time consuming.
