I am considering leasing a RaQ 3 server from dialtoneinternet. They have the best prices I have found and the seem to be a first class service with topof the line facilities and equipment. My questions are:

Does anyone here have any first hand experience with dialtone internet?
If so, what has it been like doing business with the company?

Does anyone here have any first hand experience with the RaQ 3? If so did it/is it working to your satisfaction?

I've had two servers located at Dialtone's NOC for about a year now, and everything is great. Redundant connections, and top of the line facilities.

However, you should know how to administer your server, as they charge a very high support fee. Any problems that you encounter that they have to fix, they'll charge you.

I wouldnt recommend them. I have a co-lo with them and the speed is good, but the support is messed up. When i request a batch of ips, its always always different, i can never get a batch of the same ips

Certainly, don't "not" go with them solely on this guy's IP problem. They have several customers who use and share IP blocks. As I understand it, IP's are assigned on a "per-need" basis, and a C block is not dedicated just for you. IP's cost a lot of money, and they have to be used, or ARIN will take them back and assign them elsewhere.

Also, there are no fees for IP's for linux servers, and you can have as many IP's as you want.

What an unfair and absurd statement to make, that support is messed up simply because a batch of IP numbers are different (presumably, you mean not consecutive). I don't even have service with them yet, though I will soon. EVERYTHING I have found out about DI is favorable, from the impression I get from them, their attitude, facilities, and other things, even pricing.

With all the truly lousy support at so many companies on important issues, it is a petty and untrue thing to even suggest that support is messed up over so trivial and meaningless matter as not getting consecutive IP numbers, something which is not entirely under their control anyway. To not recommend them based on that sole item says more about ridiculous expectations than a failure on the part of the compnay.

Consider yourself fortunate, even blessed, if this is the worst thing you can say about them.

It proves a point in another thread about the customer not always being right. Nowhere have I ever seen any company guarantee or even mention getting consecutive numbers.
