View Full Version : who is currently the best payment processor out there and why?
edmond dantes 10-23-2009, 12:57 PM ive been out of the game for a while as far as ecommece goes, who is currently the best Full Service processor for tangible goods as well as digital goods?
id like to look at a few options, websites, thanks in advance
vodien 10-23-2009, 01:42 PM we use WorldPAy, which has been reliable in processing various forms of credit cards. there's a setup and yearly fee, and on top of that, they also require a security deposit. If you have volume then that shouldn't be a problem.
Other processsors may include Paypal and 2Checkout. Paypal has premium merchant services that can process credit cards on your site via API calls, and 2CO has the benefit of a low-cost startup. It has it's drawbacks though, especially with recurring billing..2CO supports recurring billing, but has poor integration. For instance, they're no API calls when a recurring payment fails, just an email sent to you.

Matt - Kerplunc 10-23-2009, 11:53 PM Take a look at Paypal Website Payments Pro, it does a pretty good job, much better then 2Checkout in our opinion
IfHost 10-24-2009, 12:12 AM I use google checkout. Clients love the fact that it is google and they know they are safe with google.

Don't like PayPal at all.
HostYourIdea 10-26-2009, 04:11 PM Keep an eye out for the newcomer Alertpay. (since 2004) I will keep the forum informed. There are mixed reports on them, but i see some are just scare tactics and scammers whose accounts were frozen.

We have had the same problems with what Paypal call their "independent review team" that randomly freeze accounts while they inspect them. Of course being legit, you can get restore...eventually, but they hold your money.
Googlecheckout is a dream, but remember all their freebies are finished now, so they are no cheaper than paypal. Still, I never heard of merchant's accounts being frozen for no reason.
Hope it helps Edmond.

XFactorServers 11-02-2009, 06:04 PM Merchant / GateWay (Direct Credit Card) along side Paypal & Google Checkout are the best.
You could also use PayPal's Website Payment Pro to replace the Merchant / GateWay account to process direct credit card.
CodyRo 11-02-2009, 06:29 PM PayPal is fine - we've never had issues and have a fair amount of revenue flowing through them.
Also simply get a merchant account (Authorize.net, InternetSecure, etc). Google Checkout, 2Checkout and such all have ridiculous fees
brandyace 11-05-2009, 01:43 PM The best payment processor is the one who can best handle the specific needs of your business. The "best payment processor" is determined by a wide degree of variables, including, but not limited to, the volume of processing you are doing, your industry classification, your billing models, your target markets, and your payment processing history.

Google Checkout's fees are identical to PayPals!
AirJordansHead 11-12-2009, 09:30 PM It all depend on your business and business risk. I would like to recommend Paypal, MoneyBookers. These 2 payment processors are both well accepted online. :)
jcrewguy 11-13-2009, 06:55 AM Paypal is one of the best hands down, and yes you can have funds frozen - so just preverify your account.
