View Full Version : Who would you suggest?
Well, from experience, i've learnt that the lowest price isn't always the best ;)
Anyway, I'm looking for a good reseller account, but it has to be with a host which from personal experience you have seen it to have great uptime, servers, quality and main thing: support!
My budget is $70 though...but most hosts will be able to offer something below that right...that's $70 per month by the way...;)
Anyway, I must must must have CPanel...that's just a must...
And linux hosting.
And I need EVERYTHING else, like PHP, mySQL, etc. etc.
Unlimited: POP3, Forwarders, and other email things, subdomains, mySQL databases.
At least 70GB transfer per month...really, more would help.
At least 5GB space (I'm going to need a lot of space, lots and lots of images....big file sizes...)
Anyway, I think that just about sums it all up, from personal experience...sugguest/recommend away!
But it must be reliable hosting ;)

Chad McCan 11-18-2002, 06:53 PM I am just curious, what about CPanel is a "Must have" for you? I have used this software, and it didn't grab me like it does a lot of people. Maybe I am missing something?
insaneraptor 11-18-2002, 07:08 PM well www.okihost.com doesnt provide cpanel but i;ve been using ensim and it really really works well
just thought i would mention it, and btw I havent even bought a reseller account there because i havent gotten cash ready but the owner has talked me to for over 20 houirs on stuff. he has setup many demo accounts for me so i could get a feel for ensim and i think i know ensim inside out even before purchasing. Just thought you might be interested in him
I definitely need CPanel, I'm just so used to it and the way it works, I can't use anything else.
Thanks for the urls diederik...anyone else got anymore links?

I'm sure you could contact http://www.voxtreme.com for a custom solution.
I've been with them as a reseller since around April ( I think ) and if you're looking for more than just high specification reseller packages, I'd say the selling point would be Voxtreme's support. If anyone can find any better, well good on you! Voxtreme's support is tremendous, their uptime isn't bad either ;)
The guys at Vox are really nice, professional guys who know their stuff. Always on the ball!
Seriously, if you go with Voxtreme, you'd be making a great choice for yourself, your business and your customers! :D
Is http://www.darkblizzard.com/ hosted with voxtreme? because it loads very slowly...
Also, with Voxtreme, the price for what you get seems quite high...25GB transfer and 2GB space for $50 per month is far too steep for my requirements, if I were to request a custom package it would end up costing more than $100 per month...
After all I require 70GB+ transfer and 5GB space...
mdrussell 11-19-2002, 04:14 PM We price our packages sustainable, to ensure they cover expenses and produce some profit for us too. It would simply be unfeasible for us to offer that amount of bandwidth for the price you set per month, when we ourselves pay the premium for high quality bandwidth.
Good luck in your search for a host - I simply do not think $70 per month for 70GB of bandwidth is sustainable no matter how you work your business plan.

Yes it is, It's fine for me, anyone else?
Remember, with Voxtreme's price your getting the support and the quality hardware including the package... oh and the valuable community over there. ;)
To operate a profitable, fully functioning, reliable service Voxtreme has to price their packages like this.
Good look in your search! :)
If you do happen to sign up anytime in the future, be sure to pop into the community forums! :D
darkblizzard.com works fine now, was a lil slow earlier.
I understand that I cannot get "everything" with $70 p/m but I do know that I can get the specs, maybe not the greatest support etc. but I have managed to come close to that at a few hosts.
Synthetic 11-19-2002, 04:31 PM http://www.atwebhost.com has a semi-dedicated plan that offers 20GB space and 300GB bandwidth for $69 ...
Not sure how their service/support is though.
im with splashhost , been there for over 6 months , i have no complaints
Wayne Harris 11-19-2002, 09:06 PM I would think you could easily find what you are looking for if you were willing to step up into a dedicated server for around $99 a month. This would probably be your best bet too.
Error 11-20-2002, 01:31 AM Why don't you check:
Manlius.com
Acunett.com
I heard they have good support. :)

The thing you need to think about is whether that 70 Gb of BW is any good if:
- the support team don't respond for 24 hours for simple problems
- your uptime is closer to 95% compared to the promised 99.9% (they always promise the world after all)
- they decide mid way through the 2nd month that you're using too many resources and cut you off.
If you think that's harsh, look around... happens all the time... Like Matt said, re-evaluate your business plan, think about ways to reduce your BW overhead (graphics optimisation, Gzip compression, etc...) because at the moment it's unrealistic.
Good luck either way.

Shame on you Matt for wanting to build a long term sustainable business. :D
Get with the program dude. :emlaugh:
akashik 11-20-2002, 07:23 AM I remember it wasn't that long ago that people would raise the roof if they saw someone offer a $1 a gig - you might as well have asked for the 'U' word.
How comfortable are you with a server? You're very close to a rackshack/nocster server for the price you're looking at. The extra $20-30 would net you a heck of a lot more transfer and give you a lot of growing room.
Greg Moore
I definitely cannot afford a dedicated server...
I can't really afford the $70 that much either, about cutting down bandwidth usage, well that is possible to some extent, but it wouldn't reduce usage so much.
Also, with dedicated servers, wouldn't I have to do a lot more work? Ie. configure things etc. etc. and what about the control panel etc? Wouldn't that cost me xtra per month?
Dedicated really wouldn't work for me as there is more work and money involved.
Hosts can offer me the package I want for the price I want, and in the past I've gone with hosts who offer great packages at low prices and their support has been quite good.
I'll just have to take chances like I have in the past I guess, that's the kind of person I am, as I can't afford to go with something that is very reliable.
