I work for a web hosting company and i want to know if any of you that have websites hosted, registered etc. by other companies are fully satisfied with the services these companies provide or is their something that you would very much gain from if your webhosting company offered it as one of their services.
So I'm just asking that you please take the time to submit any ideas that come to mind, this could very well positively affect you. Thank You!

I don't think you can ever get the "perfect company" it just doesn't exist. Web hosting companies should always be trying to improve and evolve as the market changes.

This is true however my job is to try and make that perfect company so all im asking is that if their are any ideas from the customers point of view that they feel would improve their site i would like to know about it.

Rochen

Well to be able to suggest improvements you would have to see the business that's trying to be improved.

JakeV

Well I work for ***** and I work with Business development so i felt the best way to find out what it is that are customers would benefit from is to ask them straight out. so if their are any suggestions just let me know. I'm sure their are several suggestions out there.

I think the "*****" is a great start to building the perfect company.

No, it looks like the company was *ed out for abuse of some sort.

So if I worked for McDonalds and was affiliated with them, if I tried to type McDonalds in here it would make it say *****? How can the computer be so smart? :D

JakeV

Actually I think it only bleeps out webhosting company names - but can someoone help me out with my question.

SoftWareRevue

The computer at WHT is very smart, and it's members get smarter each day. Stick around and see if any smarts start to sink in . . . .

Clue: It only bleeps out BANNED websites do to spamming or scamming.

My post was completely in jest, and I know why certain companies are *'ed out. I was just poking fun :D

JakeV

OK - can somebody please help me out. I just want to here a few suggestions from you people. Your ideas may very well be launched by many web hosting companies.

Don’t spam or scam would be a starter :)

Actually if you remain affiliated with *****, and espeically if you try to promote ***** in any way, you are likely to get banned too. Or at the very least it will ruin your reputation.

JakeV
11-18-2002, 05:40 PM
Look - I'm just an employee at a major corporation. I know nothing of any "spamming or scamming". But what I do know is that my company is very much concerned with customer satisfaction, which is why i am in this message forum trying to see what it is that customers are intrested in. So would you please drop this "spamming & scamming" nonsense, it has absolutely nothing to do with my question.

Does your company name begin with C, have an I and is based in Bedford, TX? ;)

JakeV

Actually it is. Is there something i dont know about It.

How did I guess.... :D

I think you should read up on your employer: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=653580&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending

Let's just say they're not on 'best terms' with the owner of this board.

... and yes your company was banned from this forum for spamming another company's customers. RackShack to be exact.

There's a request forum that is full of ideas of what customers want.

I can tell you something they *don't* want.

They don't want to be affiliated with any company that is banned from this forum. It takes a lot to get your name ***d out here. And members have a good memory. They try to help unsuspecting clients from associating with banned companies.

You didn't type in ******. You typed in the name of the banned company. Then you said, "No I didn't. I was just making a joke."

I think you better go sit in a corner and think about what you've done.

actually i think i remember chicken saying that ***** has never formally requested to be un-*'d...and i think even if they do now they won't be because of their bad reputation for deceit, poor customer service, etc..

JakeV

I dont know what your talkin about. I wasnt the one who said anything about poking fun. that was some guy taking about working or McDonalds

JeremyV

I was the one who was poking fun at your unethical business practices.. or your company's. I think you are giving ME a bad name, because your username is very similar to mine. Infact, I have two accounts with your company, and have been trying to cancel for a while. Hard telling when/if it will be cancled since I can still access them.. all I know is I better not ever see a charge on my credit card from ***** again

One thing customers like is someone that can conduct themselves professionally in all circumstances.

Doesn't appear to be you.

Jake, you are talking like a child. I find it hard to believe you even have a job in the IT industry the way you are conducting yourself here. And no, i wasn't making a threat, I could care less if you charge my credit card again. because I will just issue a chargeback, along with my many emails and correspondance with what you call customer support about the issue.

Sounds like precisely the attitude that everyone hates about see eye host. Congrats! I'm sure you fit in well there.

OK, let's not get too caught up in things. You guys gave him a pretty hard time and he's a new member. Not exactly the welcome wagon.

This is yet another example of WHT warfare ...

There are the WHT regs with - dare I say - extreme egos, killing every newbie in sight.
There are the newbies who don't stand a chance and turn out to be 15yo's throwing their toys.

And there are the few WHT regs who are geniuenly trying to help a new guy. Unfortunately they seldom get involved as they usually get flamed by one of the above groups.

Far be it for me to judge, well I am now ... but why are a lot of people so agressive here ... In my opinion the best way to handle somebody who gets emotional and agressive is just to address him in a calm and collected manner, which will possibly calm him down and resume normal dialog. And if it doesn't work then at least you get the satisfaction of infuriating him/her by not reacting to his/her outbursts.

Anyay that's my view .. take it / leave it / used it / don't use it ...

Well for one thing it appears that:
a. Right off the bat, it looks like he is selling something, but simply wording it otherwise. ie; being sneaky.
b. He isn't new to the biz, as other, more polite people asking for help often state.
c. He hasn't done his homework, or else he wouldn't be asking those questions.
d. He wants us to do his work for him. After all, he could just read the requests forums to see what people want, or read the complaints about hosts webhosting forums to see what people don't like.
e. Any successful host has already done the research and marketing to become successful, so why should they type it all out for this person who is not in a position to improve the company he works for?

Many new hosts have come here, and asked "getting started" questions, and have been given some very good answers. You can't just come busting in here and act like WHT has been waiting for a person like yourself to come along and turn on the lights for us. What are we supposed to say to these people: "Gee a new great hosting Co? I've been wanting one of those" or "Oh how have I previously gotten by without your enlightenment?" or "well, first you get a server, and then you . . . "
We already gave him the first thing about his company he should fix, if he actually had the power. Don't spam, and don't cheat people. That automatically puts you in the top 40% of hosts. Want to go higher? Then offer good customer service, that will probably get you in the top 20% of the good hosts.
Heck, what more can we possiby do? and what should we do to help a host that sucks so badly anyway?

JeremyV

On top of what he just said... it looks as if he works for See Eye Host... which is a banned host here, and if you read about them there are very good reasons behind it. So why help out a scammer and a spammer?

While I would have to agree with most (if not all of the points) made here, I can certainly see what HingyGuy is saying. I myself came under attack the other day from another member here who decided that it was his job to inform me that the name of my hosting company was horrible, would be sued away from me, that my lawyer studied too much in school to know anything, and I'm sure if the thread had gone on long enough that he was the king of the world.

Now, I understand that it is important to make sure that people don't come in here scamming, and I have a problem with that as well. But some people just don't react well when they're put on the defensive right away.

My 2 cents.
