Hi....I am a bigtime newbie and just got my first RaQ4r Cobalt server.

The company I am working for is letting me have a go at updating it and installing some software on it.

I am a mid-range linux administrator....worked with Apache web servers that were installed on desktop machines....so I know my way around an Apache web server all right....

So, where do I start looking for all the updates I have to install.

My list of installed software only shows these things:

- Relational Database Server and Client tools by InterBase.
- Release V6.0
- Cobalt OS Release 6.0
- RaQ4-en-Security Release 0.0.1-6453
- RaQ4R-All-System Release 0.0.1-6618

So, with that in mind, where do I find all the updates, and how exactly do I install them.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

So, the first link you mentioned states to apply all packages, starting at the bottom of the page.

Are there any common problems that I should be aware of during the installation of any of the packages listed?

i usually wait a week or so before installing a new patch as they may have some bugs in them.

After you install 13323, comment out the AllowChmod line in /etc/proftpd.conf, and chmod 600 /etc/sasldb (if you have it.)

Also, not sure if it's related to a patch or NeoMail, but you may have to chmod 1777 /var/spool/mail as well.

I think that's it.

Its always best and saftest to grab the packages right in SSH/Telnet to the server, then installing it afterwards via the control panel and not by using the http download thing there.
