I'd recommend cpanel, I've used it more then any other control panels and I'm the most satisfied with it. It's also pretty user friendly, very easy to navigate through it.

webmin is free, it's got a lot of stuff and it's open source so you can add to it if you want. Look it up on google.

It really depends on your experience and what you want to be able to do with it.

You really don't need one if you just want to serve up web pages for only one domain and you have some Linux ability.

it is, but i also find it hard on server, our main site runs on a plesk machine simply because i was not in the mood to pay out for cPanel on a server that is only going to host one site.

For general consumer use i would reccomend cPanel, it does it all for you, if you want a little more flexibility and dont mind longer wait times on screen load then plesk is it

A free control panel that providers provide with VPSs is LXAdmin and a good paid control panel witch is about 12$ monthly is cPanel, You should look into cPanel its a cool cp.
