View Full Version : NameCheap is the most frustrating company...

This is not really web hosting related, but they are a webhost, so I am hoping you guys dont mind me posting here as I just need to know what to do. I purchased a RapidSSL certificate from NameCheap.com and have literally been fighting them for a refund for over a week. They have a 7 day refund policy which I contacted them within, as the first representative I spoke with on live chat (Helga, the only decent one of all of them) was helpful, and told me everything was fine. I just needed to cancel and then use my refund to reorder the service (I put the wrong domain in when setting it up, and I guess thats not something you can change).

Now im simply infuriated by the fact it seems to be staffed by nothing but russian women who I believe are either extremely slow or just absolutely clueless frustrates me even more. I have now spoken with Helga, Svetlana, Maaya, and a few others, and I can honestly say they are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to any type of meaningful answer at all. (minus Helga, I guess I lucked out speaking to her first).

Not only are they telling me that its too late for a refund, but that my SSL Certificate cancellation request was denied, and its still active. When I contacted RapidSSL/GeoTrust they confirmed that the account had been cancelled. Furthermore, I specifically instructed these women NOT to cancel it if I was not going to recieve a refund.

So I am wondering what exactly should I do? Its not even really about the money, its the concept of how screwed up their entire system is (and the fact they blantantly lie to me). Ive already tried paypal dispute, and apparently paypal wont do anything if there was no physical goods. Obviously though I want my money back as I was within the refund period when I spoke with Helga and she got things started, and I am not a big fan of paying for something that I cant even use.

I know that the 7 day refund/cancellation policy is from GeoTrust themselves. Was the cancellation/refund requested done within the first 7 days of the purchase?

I requested the refund within 7 days, I dont think it actually went in in 7 days as Geotrust told me it was cancelled on the 12th. Im more alarmed by the fact that Svetlana asked me if I would like to proceed with the cancellation (which I thought was what I had done with Helga the first time I talked to her) and I was very clear when I said do not cancel if I wont get a refund. This irritates me more than anything.

nevermind, wrong assumption.

Someone is looking into your issue now. If you requested the deletion within 7 days it will be refunded. These things sometimes take time to figure out and need to be escalated in some cases.

Sorry to hear about your problem and that it can't be resolved. How did you pay buy? Try contacting the managment of lets say if you paid by paypal and tell them your problem, I know this can't always help but try it.

Its not like I wanted to go somewhere else, I just needed a refund so I could reorder from them properly :P

I wish these forums had an edit button so I could put [resolved] in the title or something. Oh well, thanks again Richard and Team :)

Yea but you shouldn't have to make a thread about it.

You can easily PM them next time.
