HostGator is a pretty good choice for a start-up reseller. Recommended and reputable provider :)

Are you looking for resellers based specifically in India? I don't think HostGator's have their servers based in India if that's what you're lookin for.

Not to detract you from Hostgator, I know that they're great, but when making the comparison you should make sure that you take into account the fact that HG doesn't allow overselling on its reseller accounts, which effectively makes them a bit more expensive than providers that do.

India is a big country in terms of population, I would think every established host has a client from India here and there (although there are some exceptions where hosts don't allow certain countries to sign up) - and Hostgator is a good company to start with since they don't oversell their reseller packages but as Dan said, they also don't allow you to oversell which limits you to how much space you can promise others.

I totally agree with you.

MNEC, a hosting provider in India may give you the benefit of local support but make sure you sign up with a reputable provider.
Check if reseller package supports overselling feature, which usually has less disk space & quota resource because the quota is actual usage.

HTTPME.com and innohosting.com, I have reseller accounts with them both. No problems so far. I am sure everyone here will agree they are great, esp HTTPME. :)

I think HostGator has one of the most stable networks you will find. They are great however they are also abit pricey and your plan as based on alloted space and not actual use.

I would sugest going with a smaller company. The reason why is that at hostgator i feel like im just a customer and they dont care about me.

MNEC I will suggest, first decide how much resources you need, do you really need tons of space and traffic. As you said you are hosting moderate sites, so sit down and calculate how much resources you actually need and then search for a suitable host.

About overselling/allotted space/actual usage, if overselling is enabled you can sell more than what you have been allotted and your account will be monitored for actual usage, if overselling is disabled, your account will be monitored for allotted space. So say you have a 10 Gb account and you created 1 Gb plan, with overselling disabled you can sell only 10 such accounts but if overselling is enabled you can sell more than 10 accounts as your actual usage will be monitored not what you have allotted in total.

HostGator, like many other hosts, has a money back guarantee. You really won't be risking anything giving them a try. You could publish a couple sites, test their support and connectivity, and see if they fit your needs before migrating all your sites.

Most of the hosting companies from India will accept payment in INR, through cheque, cash or online bank transfer, but most of them won't be able to match HG plan and pricing.

Startup with a cheap plan with limitations on disk space and bandwidth and try increasing to higher plans :stickout:

Thats not a problem if seeking an alternative reseller provider out of India
