Hi all,

I have an issue, which might be stupid, but I want some assistance from you people.

I have the name servers as ns1.domainname.com and ns2.domainname.com pointing to two different IP's, which are my name servers for my hosted domains. But when I searched for the domainname.com in whois, it shows that it has dropped before a year and kept at registrar only and the status shows as locked. I am not able to renew that domainname.com too. But I have no issues with my sites, and sites are working fine. When I checked in whois, the domainname.com is expiring in few days.

Could you please advice me, what happening.

Thank YOu.

What do you mean by the domain has dropped before a year? Domain locked wouldn't cause any issues to the website, only it can't be moved. If you have any issues with the domain renewal, contact your domain registrar and they should be able to help.

Hello,

This is purely an issue at your registrar and you should contact them asap. Otherwise you will face DNS issues with your domains which uses these nameservers, if anyone else acquire your main domain.

if your webhost still controls that domain, ask them to renew it.

if your webhost does NOT control that domain, it sounds like you have no assurances that NS1 and NS2 will remain functional.

consider changing nameservers before the domain expires.

Thank you all for your advice. But, Is there any chance this might be due to DNS hosting at the registrar?

I made a query at tools4domains.com and it says for my domainname.com as:

domainname.com Expired on 11/17/08 and was available for backorder at Namejet.com, Tools4domains.com processed 19004 domains that expired on 11/17/08, at Namejet.com.

My nameservers i.e ns1.domainname.com is pointing to correct server IP and ns2 too.

The main problem is that the domainname.com having the expiry date as of 14th Oct,2009.

Please suggest me, what to do.

Note: I am administrator of all these servers.

Thank You.

it would really help if you bring the paranoia down a notch and release the domain name in question so people can actually check it ..people knowing your domain name is not a security issue

Please just talk to your registrar and just ask what happened. This sounds like a flame...
