View Full Version : trouble with registrar and my domain
vernom 10-05-2009, 08:57 PM hello
i have a domain registered with pronicsolutions.com , the domain was going to expire on 3/10/2010, i did my payment that same day and receibed a confirmation email of my payment, the problem was that the renewal was not done and my domain stopped working, i sent email to support and the issue was sent to the billing departament, to this date i have opened 2 more support tickets but without any answer.
Today i began to transfer the domain to godaddy, i made the payment etc, but to complete the process i need the transaction id that they send to my email, but the problem is that the emails from my tech and admin contacts are not working because the domain expired..
any suggestion?
i have to say.. these last 4 years with pronicsolutions have been a nightmare, i am with them since 2001.
Techno 10-05-2009, 09:17 PM I assume that is Oct 3 in American notation - not March 10?
paynemorgan 10-05-2009, 09:56 PM Give the current registrar a call, you will have to get their help if you wish to transfer it to Godaddy.
Always remember to transfer a domain a week or so before the expiration date.
legalhelpforum 10-05-2009, 10:28 PM You should try calling them. If that doesn't work and you really need the domain, you may have to get an attorney.
Mike - Limestone 10-05-2009, 10:56 PM I would definitely give them a call. As another poster mentioned, you will likely need the renewal to go through before you can transfer it.
Good luck!

Yep, october 3.
Andreyfidrya 10-06-2009, 06:22 AM Always remember to transfer a domain a week or so before the expiration date.Yes, also it is important to deal with reliable domain companies only to avoid any troubles like this one.
eric_pu 10-06-2009, 06:40 AM Try to give them a call as tickets are unresponsive could make this easier to let them help you locate the problem.
If your domain does not work as it has not been expired. You'd better contact with them.
And as people says do transfer before the expire date.
inspiron 10-06-2009, 07:51 AM Yes it is always good to keep your hosting and registrar separate to avoid future pain while transfer.
Andreyfidrya 10-06-2009, 08:14 AM Yes it is always good to keep your hosting and registrar separate to avoid future pain while transfer.Yes, some companies offer good domain registration service, but bad hosting. Others have good hosting service, but bad domain registration service. It is difficult to find a company offering high quality hosting and domain registration services.
smarterthanspam 10-06-2009, 08:57 AM You will soon be out of luck if not out of luck already. Pronic is no longer a valid corporation. They have been voided by Florida for failure to file their annual report. Quite frankly, this smells a lot like Registerfly. If your credit card was charged and Berthold Kammerer did not pay the Registry, you may have a fraud case but that won't get your domain back. Kammerer's phone number is 407-733-1763. Good luck.
mbulent 10-06-2009, 10:53 AM Their domain name is expiring in 2 months. That may be a sign the company is not managed well.
You can start the transfer to another company but you will have to have your Auth-Code from them. They may have it on their domain manager.

So True: hard to find both. But it shouldn't be.
vernom 10-09-2009, 07:34 PM i called Berthold Kammerer , he did not answered the phone but i leaved a voice message, to the next day my domain was working again, renewed for another year but my payment was for 2 years (30 dollars), i opened another ticket asking for the auth code to move my domain to another registrar and my ticket was transfered to "management".. i have 3 days waiting for a response and my other tickets are still unanswered.
anyone knows if there is another way to get the auth-code?
mbulent 10-10-2009, 02:11 AM Did they give you a domain manager login to manage your domain name? Try to check it out there. Otherwise, you cant unless they send it to you;
Vinayak_Sharma 10-10-2009, 02:45 AM vernom I think you can manage your domain at https://www.pronicsolutions.com/domains/aLogIn.php if you have the login details. Also before it is too late get the admin contact email changed to some external email so that you get all the notifications etc even if the domain has expired.
Two points to note:
1) Keep domain and hosting with different providers
2) Never ever use domain email for Registrant/Admin contact for the domain.
vernom 10-11-2009, 06:28 PM Yes, i have the control of the domain with the panel, but i only need the auth-code to move it to another registrar.
Vinayak_Sharma 10-11-2009, 07:47 PM So you have the control of the domain, take following steps first:
1) Change the email ID for Registrant/Admin to some address that is not on that domain.
2) Within your domain control panel search for the Auth Code.
3) Wait for 60 days before you transfer the domain to godaddy (60 days from last renewal).

As much as I know, there is no such rule. You can even registrar transfer the domain when it is expired.
60 days rule applies only after the domain is first registered or transferred.
Most of the companies offer the Transfer Secret, EPP code or Auth-Code (all refers to the same thing) on their domain name control panel. Please check it carefully;

I may be wrong in saying 60 days, and yes rules does not deny transfers, but to know why I recommended to wait visit http://blog.domaintools.com/2007/09/domain-renewal-accounting-loophole-exposed-in-verisign-registry/
mbulent 10-11-2009, 10:53 PM That loop hole exist if the registrant does not renew with the current registrar and instead transfers the domain out after the expiry before the redemption.
Because in our case the guy has already renewed his domain name, he has no reason to wait.
In anyways, the problem is with payment more than functionality in the loop hole.

hi vernom,
it is sad to know that you have problem with your current registrar. As your domain name has been renewed for the next 2 years, your domain will be automatically locked for the next 60-days and this means that even you have the AUTH_CODE, you will not be able to transfer it away. (unless the 60-days pass).
At this stage, you will have no option but to wait until the 60-days period lapses.
I am not too sure how can't you have a full access to your own domain. As you are the domain owner, you own the domain and you have the power to decide the duration of renewal, your registrar, etc. If they give you problems, please just change the registrar.
Hope this helps :)

There's nothing like a good old fashioned phone call to numbers that people try to hide to wake them up.:) In your original posting you quoted the expiration date as 3/10/2010 or March 10, 2010 if I remember correctly or something like that. If that is correct, I don't understand the rush and concern to renew. Was this date correct? You also originally mention not having a working email to get the AUTH code but now that you do, you should be able to request the AUTH code right from your management panel now that you have access to it. Your situation is starting to get a bit confused.

The 60 day ICANN rule relates only to transfers, not renewals. He can transfer anytime he wants as long as the domain has not expired. The only exception is with Registrars that decide to add their own wacky rules like GoDaddy that will internally lock your domain for 60 days for minor changes like email address, mailing address, etc on the WHOIS. This has nothing to do with ICANN but is their own internal nonsense. If you can work within those draconian rules, go for GoDaddy, if not, look elsewhere. Enom is a good bang for your buck.
