you might want to do a search as this topic has been discussed in detail many times, and there have been some interesting and informative threads

This has been discussed quite a bit here. May want to try doing a search for more links, but I'll get you started. There's a few links from a recent thread here: http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83686&highlight=hosting+directories

Welcome to WHT and good luck.

Believe me there is plenty!
Try the major search engines as well.
Heres a quick link, scroll about half way down the page and you should have enough to get you started....
have fun

Good luck

dmoz.org seems to me keep dead web sites listed. One of the down fall of using human editors compared to using spiders like google.

The Google directory is an improved rendering of the DMOZ pages - same content with dead links removed & ordered by PageRank
