While reading through the pointless posts I made a year ago (what better way to spend your saturday evening) I came accross the story of Kay (posted here as tamba) from tamba.co.uk who auctioned herself on ebay for $ 250.000 as a wife.

Well all of you who were here a year ago remember her.

But what I am wondering is how did this end? I know someone won the bid. So did they marry? Are they happy? Kids?

Did Softwarerevue get invited to the wedding for coming up with the idea? :)

She stopped posting here around that time. So...? Anyone have the latest?

Hmm, spending the remainder of my saturdaynight going over the search engines trying to find any news about Kay after january 29th 2001 (the date someone won the auction for 251,000 pounds) I found this:

Web wife jilted on the auction block

It is with great sadness that El Reg informs its readers that Kay Hammond - the 24-year-old blonde internet entrepreneuress from Birmingham, England, who tried to find a husband by auctioning herself online – will not be getting married. Well not in the short term, anyhow.

It seems that Ben Webb – the chap who bid more £250,000 for her hand – can't be found.

One "Ben Webb" was traced, but when confronted, he knew nothing of the auction. Apparently, he's just returned penniless from travelling overseas.

A spokesman for Miss Hammond told The Register that it seems the bid appears to have been a cruel hoax.

It is unlikely that Miss Hammond will place herself up for auction again, he said.

Oh well. ®

The story can be found here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/28/24127.html

Why spend $250k when it only takes 2 drinks at your local bar :D

Well we don't all drug their drinks :)

If it takes more than 2 drinks then you need some serious makeover :D

She has posted since that time. Have to search the username. Somewhat recently, but I don't think this month.
