If the person I sign up under to resell were to disappear would that affect me or would I just end up on the next tier up and all my information/domains stay safe?

Brian-de-vie 10-01-2009, 08:29 PM Best to check that out with enom to be safe, but the fact that your asking, makes me think your not fully convinced of the 'stability' of the person you'r looking to sign up with. HostedPlanet 10-01-2009, 11:33 PM Well I research before getting involved with anybody who is a reseller when I am to be in a recurring relationship with that entity. httpEasy 10-02-2009, 08:26 AM If the person I sign up under to resell were to disappear would that affect me or would I just end up on the next tier up and all my information/domains stay safe? I have no experience with enom but this should be standard procedure. Sure to check with enom themselves though or to sign up with them directly if you trust them enough not to get busted;-). Geek3 10-02-2009, 04:29 PM Yes and no. I have several resellers under me, so I know the in and outs. Enom has pretty much locked down its policy years ago for everyone under a reseller account to better protect users of a reseller. The reseller can login to a sub account using their account, but they will not be able to access your account payment details or modify any of your domains, information. Additionally, as long as you have a domain in your account, the reseller cannot get rid of you. There is one vulnerability, however... your pricing. That is the only thing that is subject to change as the reseller can modify pricing of the sub-accounts at any time. Most resellers make a commitment to their clients to never modify pricing, but that is only as good as their word. You will always be a sub-account of a reseller. That will never change unless you get an account directly with enom (which can be quite costly). Log out and check this link for direct accounts: http://www.enom.com/pricing.asp Rest assured... the bottom line is that your domains are safe. mrzippy 10-02-2009, 07:14 PM Hello, We have thousands of resellers under us, and many of them are "refugees" from previous resellers who have disappeared. :) It happens a lot. Geek3 is only partially correct. Technically, according to the reseller contract your parent reseller signed with eNom.. they (the parent reseller) have the right to *fully* manage your reseller account under them. It is *their* sub-account. In reality.. eNom does not give the tools to do any management except changing pricing and viewing some of your account info (but nothing personal or sensitive like passwords, etc.) The best way to proceed is that if you aren't 100% confident in your parent reseller provider... then you should find someone else whom you trust. There are lots of eNom resellers out there who can create an account for you. I wouldn't pick anyone unless they were referred to you by someone you trust or if they have a good reputation and have been around for a while. I hope that helps. larathef 10-07-2009, 07:43 AM i would suggest you to get account for registrar it self not reseller of registrar. list of reseller centric registrars are listed on one of wiki page here in WHT you can refer that at: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/wiki/Domain_Reseller_Registrar best luck |
