:stickout:
Aussie Bob 11-16-2002, 08:06 PM - DedicatedNOW are a division of pwebtech.com (http://pwebtech.com).
- CEO of company is Jason [Jayglate (http://webhostingtalk.com/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=1362)]. Ladies, he's still single. :D
- Servers are on the DCJN (http://webhostingtalk.com/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=701870&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending). [NACish]
- They're currently out of stock after blitzing it (http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87191) and setting up the first batch of orders. :smokin:
- More stock to come soon.
- Jason is a lousy speller. ;) :D
Techark 11-16-2002, 08:52 PM Wow Bob didn't know you were selling for Jason now:D You getting discounts?
Pretty well covered it tho.
I got one of the servers on 11/15 and the server was set up and configured well, I had one issue I placed a call and it was fixed in 10 minutes.
So far everything looks great and I am happy.
host911 11-16-2002, 09:24 PM Thanks Bob Nice Info about them, I will try to contact them again and i hope they answer my emails.
Monte can you tell me how is the connection on you server.
addaction 11-16-2002, 10:57 PM Well you must be the lucky one. Promised server for Friday is still not accessable and after a call it was made very clear that there is NO phone support other than emergencies. Even a simple task that they have to resolve now, takes hours...
So far DedicatedNow gets a F!

Very good. Getting excellent pings and traceroutes to and from the server. I did a trace route from it to one of my DV2 servers and vice versa. See for your self same in both directions.

StevenG 11-17-2002, 12:04 AM Much the same as Monte...
Very happy with things from down here.. nice traces, pings - server was setup well, on time - Just waiting for extra ram to get installed but communication has been top class throughout, from sales order to delivery.. Well done guys.
I'm very impressed thus far :D
addaction 11-17-2002, 12:21 AM We have had literally 1 line of communication from support:
Yes, the box will be up momentarily. I apologize for the inconvenience.
That was 7 hours ago and still no access to the server....
Is that great communication?
XanTium 11-17-2002, 12:29 AM I just tried a traceroute and it's giving a real good reply-time here from Europe.
I get an average ping of only 96ms (from europe) which is good compared to pins to rackshack (119ms) or nocster (106ms) servers.
A tracert gives me just 9 hops (nocster : 17 , rackshack : 20).

What IP/domain were you tracing? Care to post the results? :)

mooony 11-17-2002, 05:20 AM I you live in europe (italy), these servers at dedicated are very fast. They are the best I have found and I have looked everywhere.
I have a box at verio and RS but dedicated is the fasted and less hops.

You're getting NAC [or parts of etc] there then. NAC is incredible throughout parts of Europe. I've had clients jumping up and down with excitement with the speeds from NAC to parts of Europe. :smokin:

What is the difference between DCJN and NAC ?, I read few threads and some of them says its part of NAC, some says there is no difference at all.
XanTium 11-17-2002, 12:43 PM yes , it's really very good for servers located in USA.
Is gets about the same reply time as yahoo.com
cbwass 11-17-2002, 12:53 PM Got my server on the 15th as they promised, had two small problems that suport fixed in no time. Speed from europe very good. Good NOC.

Effectively there's no difference at all. I'm sure I read ages ago that DCJN was going to be (or was), a poor cousin to the regular NAC provider list, with only 2-3 names on the list, but that plan ended up shelved, and DCJN began to use NAC's full compliment of weaponary. I think it goes through a different switch or router, or some such.
Best to confirm that with someone who actually works there though :)

CipherVendor 11-17-2002, 06:32 PM The DCJN is basically NAC bandwidth but without the direct transit providers, so your traffic only passes over NAC peers (MAE-East / NYIIX).
jayglate 11-17-2002, 07:57 PM And lyiix which is an Oc3 to london which gives NAC the great european routes. But 70% of nacs actualy traffic goes over peers anyways.

Josh Stein 11-17-2002, 08:25 PM Can anyone post a link for a speed test to a server with in their network?
jayglate 11-17-2002, 08:59 PM http://speed.dedicatednow.com/uumap.tar.Z
The DCJN speed is impressive. I still don't understand why it costs much lower than the actual NAC bandwidth. Anyway, I don't care :D
Josh Stein 11-18-2002, 12:09 AM I was getting 1 megabyte a second earlier now it is a little over half of that. Why such large speed variations?
It could be because many people are downloading the file now?
