Well, it's snowing nicely here in Southern NH! This would be the second snowfall this season, and unfortunetly, like the last one it probably won't stick around.

It really is pretty though. Time to begin my stage of LOVING winter... Around the middle of January I go into my WHERE THE H*LL IS SUMMER stage... :)

Now, somehow I need to figure out how to get to our Dive club banquet this evening in Manchester, NH... Gonna be FUN driving in THIS stuff!!!

Woo hoo. I'm in the Midwest, where we've had snow spitting out for a couple days, but no accumulation. Can't wait to hit the slopes.

Enjoy it.

We've got a little bit accumulation, but nothing major, and they are only talking 2 inches, before changing to rain and freezing rain... Oh well... Hey, at least it's pretty for now!!!!

AND I got to start a fire in the fireplace... mmmm....

Steve - who is OFF to the dive club banquet!

Howl?! My Golden just had a FIELD DAY out in the snow when we got back... HE LOVES IT!!!! He was Racing ALL around the yard.

Just got back from our dive club banquet. The roads are NASTY. Cars pulled over, backwards on the highway. Very bad.

It has gone from snow, to freezing rain. Needless to say, we are glad to get home. And my girlfriend won a cute little lobster beany baby for one of the raffle prizes.

Now I'm ready to go diving... IN BONAIRE!!! :)

:( Please send some snow down here to Texas. It snows maybe one or two days a year (well not really snow, sleet, ice, etc) but God help you if you are driving in Texas on one of those days lol. I want to move to Colorado, I love snow :) I'm ready to go skiing, just wish I could find some time.

Last year, Nashville got a little snow.. But it wasn't enough to stick, and all the kids had to go to school :(

Well, it's a complete mess here. From what I've heard, Massachusetts and Conneticut got hit really hard with freezing rain, and thousand of people are without electricity.

We're pretty luck, electricity and Cable are still going strong.

It's white outside, but really messy. Too much rain. At some point I might actually get out of my jammies and go shovel some. MAYBE... ;)

Too nice sitting by the fire, watching the Bill's game.

Yep, Santa is never as 'jolly' as he should be considering he's sweating in that suit at over 100 deg F :) I usually run away to Washington State for winter (stuck here this year though). Not too much snow on the coast there, but the driving sleet and ice does get you away from the summer heat :D

It has been snowing lightly here all weekend.
The only thing I don't like about it is the people that complain about it. Look in Mi, it snows, don't like it, then get out!
Oh, and the other thing I don't like is people who drive, and shouldn't. Instead they get a big heavy 4by, thinking it will save them from having to make good driving decisions. What they don't know is that their 4by weighs on average 800 lbs more than my Truck does empty, and more weight = less stopping power. A 4by will pull you through some bad conditions, but it will not compensate for stupidity.
I drive everyday, in a 2wd truck that has no weight over the back wheels. When I need more traction, I toss some weight back there. I have never rear ended some one, or ran off the road. but I carry a full rescue kit, and that means blankets, extra jackets and clothes, sets of tools, shovel, first aid kit, ect. I usually end up rescuing other people with this stuff.

If I can give you "got caught in snow or ice" people one piece of advice knowing you have no emergency supplies, it would be: Pull over to where it is safe, (safe means where other cars can not run over you, or run into your car) and let enough air out of your drive tires (evenly) to sit them squarely on the ground. They won't look 'round' where they touch the ground. If you have a guage, this would be about 3 - 5 lbs. Underinflated tires will give you more traction. Be sure to reinflate them when you get out of the ice or snow, because underinflated tires will wear out prematurely.
Other things to help:
If you have anything in the passenger portion of your vehicle that you can move to a location over your drive wheels, do it. This means move lugage to your trunk if you have rear wheel drive ect.
If you start to slide, do NOT hit your brakes, this will practically garauntee you will end up off the road. Slow down, but drive fast enough to force your vehicle to continue in a forward motion.
Give yourself extra stopping distance.
No fast lane changes.

* dang, I spelled like that? *

Hoping it snows in the DC area a pretty damn good amount. School snow cancellations are the greatest days ever. :D

According to weatherbug, we're supposed to get another 3 inches tonight... Won't cancel school, but it will help make the sliding hill fun!!!

Cold enough to snow here (Knoxville, TN) but they say only the mountains will get some, which is fine with me. A rear wheel drive car -- which I bought when I lived in South Georgia -- is not compatible with icy hills of East Tenn.
Generally, I like the weather here. We have real seasons but it doesn't get carried away with it.

I live above the 53rd f'n parallel and still no snow. it's not even below freezing.

I require snow and winter sports to retain my sanity.

They cancel school down in SC even if it "flurries". There just has to be a prediction for everyone to haul ass to the grocery store and clean out all the canned foods and bottled water. It only sticks every 3 years or so :bawling:

You guys are making me jealous. Had another scorcher today - well above 30 anyhow. Full water restrictions in effect, worst drought on record - Australia is really suffering. I doubt Santa will get down here, not enough water to feed his reindeer.

ATST

Aw, Nexdog, I make sure he 'waters up' over here for the trip.

They clean out the grocery stores over here too, when a big storm is predicted. But I have them beat, because I buy cases of stuff when it is on sale, so I do not have to fight the "stock up" traffic, (or pay higher prices) and while everybody is at the grocery store, I can get a jump start on their next "stock up" item: Movie rentals!
Oh, and if you have a cat, you better not ever be out of cat litter when news of a storm is announced because the News Station always tells people to keep bags of it in their trunk incase they get stuck, causing people (who wouldn't even know what to do with it if they did get stuck) will buy it all up. Trust me, you don't want to be snowed in with a cat that has no place to poop.

Well, weatherbug lied... Ok, it didn't LIE, it retracted it's report... I was really bummed to wake up this morning and not find ANY new snow. Just this yucky stuff stuck to a millon leaves.

Anyone want an oak tree?! Apparently We have TOO MANY in our yard.

Well, back to sunshine, and 50 degree weather by the middle of the week. That works out good, so I can rake more leaves...
