Why is the thumbs up (:agree:) set as :agree : and not  ?

Just wondering, as it sometimes seems odd to type :agree : when I feel like I am adding a thumbs up symbol. :D

Not requesting a change. Just curious!

I could add a quaint remark.....but I've been infraction free for over a month at least and I've a wager with someone that I can stay infraction free till the end of the year. :agree:

Damn it's too hard all this behaving myself. Folks will be thinking I've went soft. (No funny remarks please..I beg of you)

Why is the thumbs up (:agree:) set as :agree : and not  ?Cuz that's the way it was set up when it was first set up. And we're kinda nostalgic around these parts.

And yet I still type  and have to change it to :agree: (well, once I remember that it's :agree:).

Can't we add both? Wouldn't that solve it for everyone? :)

Emoticon aliasing!

I like the idea, but is it worth the hassle of adding  as an alias (and perhaps even having to program it in?)? :P

I can live with "agree" :agree:
