Hi! I'm a new member of this forum, and have been gleening great information from it!
I'm getting myself out of a reseller situation from an aquaintance who has been giving lousy service (a very small company that will probably go out of business soon). Customer service is terrible, no one answers the phone, and often, I've had to nag the administrator several times via pager or by even calling her home number! Anyway, I'm pretty perturbed and only hung in there because she was a friend, but a friend with issues, none the less.
ANYWAY, these are my needs:
Unix server, with PHP, Cgi, MySql
Control panel for clients
A control panel for ME to set up my sites (which I didn't have before)
anonymous ftp
my own name servers
web-based e-mail
telnet, ssl
POP and redirect e-mails
unique IP numbers (because of my search promotion and optimization services, this is a very big need)
90% or better uptime
And, of course, great customer service and communication
I don't really need shopping carts already installed because I use Commerce.cgi and have a pretty good programmer who does that stuff for me.
I look over that list, and it looks like I'm asking for a lot, but right now, I'm getting charged $89/month for 1500 megs. If I can get a better price, that would be super, because I'm fast losing money with this situation between competition and the lousy service.
Any suggestions?

You may be better to post this in the webhosting requests forum where hosts can offer their services to you directly.

If however you are looking for recommendations from users rather than hosts themselves you are in the right place.

Although I've not had experience with these, I'm sure you won't have a problem with http://httpme.com or http://voxtreme.com - these have both been seen to provide great services and support.

Welcome to WHT btw too :)

That's why I posted here:-) I figured I'd get more objective points of view! I guess I could post there, too, then run the companies by THIS forum......................

I posted this to the Web Hosting request forum, and got a response from hostculture.com. Has anyone had any experience with this company?

I would recommend www.ehostpros.com.

They have excellent packages, prices and servers.

I just looked at my typing, and figured out that I made a goof! I only get 150 mgs, not 1500.

I would recommend www.lypha.com they have a free reseller plan which includes 50mbs of space, 2gb of transfer, mysql, php, perl, cgi, webmail, cpanel/whm, all the standard stuff in a cpanel host.. only they are FREE

really good for trying out the reseller water before jumping in since the free plan lets you create 1 free account. :D

kstaff, you can email the hosts you have interest in with any questions you might have and see their response time, answers and they way they responde to you.. Also ask about uptime, Features, how long been in business.. don't go with the cheapest for the sake of paying less unless you like to switch hosts every couple of month..

Actually, I'm going to give CyberGate a try. I know I'm not supposed to post an opinion for a few months, but just from the correspondence I've had with David there and his helpfulness in working with me throughout the weekend, that's already a plus in my book! The prices are good, and the features are what I want. I'll keep you posted in a few months, and let you know how things go.:D
