View Full Version : Is a 512MB VPS enough to host WHMCS + Kayako?
pedrojose 09-22-2009, 08:58 PM Hello all,
I will start using whamcs + kayako in order to manage my clients and im looking to install it on a VPS (cPanel) with 512MB RAM.
It will manage +/- 100 clients.
So will whmcs + kayako run well on a 512MB VPS, or do i need to go to a dedicated server?
Any experiences or advices?
Thanks
Steven 09-22-2009, 09:00 PM It definitely is large enough.
MikeTrike 09-22-2009, 09:00 PM I have currently been playing with a 512MB VPS, that should be fine for the most part.
Jacob Wall 09-22-2009, 09:00 PM You should be fine, I'm running Ubersmith & WHMCS(Two different domains) and am fine, totaling over 500 clients on a 512mb VPS.
johnch 09-22-2009, 09:15 PM Yes, a VPS with 512MB RAM should fit your needs fairly well. Managed + 512MB ram + cPanel/WHM will probably run you $35-50 for a reputable host. Also take a look at the VPS offers forum, there are many reputable vps offers there.
VPSRight 09-22-2009, 09:21 PM 512mb should be fine! Just make sure your provider will allow you to upgrade with minimal issues/downtime, if any.

Agreed, I currently run similar numbers on a 512mb machine. But to future proof yourself, make sure the physical machine you are running on has the ability to offer more ram.
TheServerExperts 09-22-2009, 09:31 PM Like been said you should be fine, i also recommend 1GB ram if you want to think about the future.
Cheers
pedrojose 09-22-2009, 09:35 PM ok, thanks all for your advices
i will go and buy the 512mb vps
TheServerExperts 09-22-2009, 09:53 PM ^ Good luck and lets know how it turns out.
SC-Daniel 09-22-2009, 10:26 PM 512MB is more than ample for what you are needing...
We've been running our website/client system/kayako on a VPS with 384MB RAM for ages, but then again we don't use cPanel on it ;)
Hydro_Host 09-23-2009, 07:00 AM Should be fine!
No need to go dedicated until you outgrow as vps!
Deem3nŽ 09-25-2009, 08:10 AM Its definitely enough
-Edward- 09-25-2009, 08:44 AM Our website/billing portal runs on a 512mb VPS with XtraHost, we have no problems whatsoever, it also has cPanel installed and hangs around 200mb RAM used.
xojac 09-26-2009, 07:00 AM I do not suggest you run the billing server on the same server as the cPanel hosting, as each port you open up raises the risk to be hacked.
Vinayak_Sharma 09-26-2009, 10:13 AM 512 Mb RAM is good enough to do that, but do take a note of what host machine specifications are, it should have powerful multiple multicore CPU and lot of RAM.
XENnode 09-27-2009, 04:10 AM Don't forget you can always upgrade the ram and swap, so you'd be better off going low and upgrading once needed :P
eastcoastuk 10-28-2009, 08:50 PM 512mb is fine for Cpanel & Kayako, I've just moved over from a reseller account onto VPS and with all my clients moved over there are plenty of resources still available. I checked with my VPS host that I could upgrade when things get bigger and this isn't a problem. It certainly works out cheaper and you get better control over the data of you r clients..
