What software would you recommend for live chat? Also, are there any good free live chat softwares available?

Kayako gets my vote for paid live chats. Also live person is suppose to be pretty good.

Free you can try livezila as alot of people use that.

Kayako or Livezilla are the best.

I would choose any of the following;

Paid: Kayako, Live Help (StarDevelop), ProvideSupport
Free: LiveZilla - Without a doubt :D

There are many others out there paid and free but you'll find they are probably the best at the moment.

Recently switch to livezilla and its great no regrets whatsoever.

Will try phplive again when they release there new v4, there current version is not being develop anymore and thus have limit support for it but it does have a major price drop in owned license, they also no longer offer hosted solutions for there livechat.
