Hi Guys

I am trying to figure out how to have one reseller account but have two or more websites in which to sign up for a hosting account.

Is that possible?

So abc.com might have 3 plans for beginners and xyz.com might have more complex (and expensive) plans for the more advanced users.

You can have 2 sites and use the 1 reseller account for sure. The easiest way to do this would be to create all of your plans, then take the signup links for company "A" and put them on company "A" site. Same for company "B". At this point, you will have 2 sites with different links back to your reseller account where you can sell from. All support and billing will be under the main reseller account. While this may not be the best option, it should work for you.

The only way to accomplish this that I know of is to create "all" plans under the reseller account.
Create separate groups for these plans.
Build two sites and link to these plans individually.

Meaning site1 may link to individual plans of the group "Linux Budget" and site2 may link to individual plans in the "Advanced Linux" group. By grouping these plans it will allow the customer to move "up/down" as their requirements change from within their control panel to any plan in the group.

OK, that was fast.

I have a follow-up question:

I only have one merchant account and I don't want to confuse my customers. I want each store front to be reflected on the clients bill.

Anybody have any experience with that?

I'm not aware of any merchant accounts that will let you do that - you could just make the merchant account generic (not specific to either site).

Nope, you couldn't do this under one reseller account/control panel even if your merchant said yes.

The problem with this is if you have a single Hsphere reseller account, you cant do this. Hsphere has its own billing program and it wont allow you to make different billing sections unless you are the Master (you would need to setup 2 different reseller accounts).

So I would need to make it plain in the terms of service that the client will be billed under our parent company behemoth-enterprises (made up name).

Correct as you can only have a single entry for billing under each reseller acct.

I would think in most cases this would be a good business plan to follow and not a limitation. This way you can market with two separate campaigns and as the needs of your basic users grow they may be aware of a "trusted" host for their new more advanced needs. Conversely if a client using your "advanced plans" reefers a friend who has simpler needs they have a trusted option.

Doteasy.com, based in Burnaby, BC Canada, followed this practice for years. At the bottom of their hosting options page was a link to in2net.com for co-location server hosting, and a link to another in-between offering for business grade hosting. This subtle link was the only obvious connection, however you always knew that more advanced services were just a need away.

I wasn't aware hsphere had it's own built in billing panel... I guess you learn something new every day!

Yep, has many payment gateways built in, and is very nice actually. You can configure all types of things and H-Sphere also runs nice reports etc.

H-Sphere also has it's own ticketing system which is fine for resellers etc. Most the large H-Sphere provider's use a separate ticketing system, but you can easily link that so when a client clicks tickets/support from within your control panel, they can be taken to wherever you like.

H-Sphere is a great control panel in my opinion :)

Its not your average control panel. It has way more ability to scale then most of the other panels out there. Its really a complete automation system. No need to buy extra stuff like helpdesk and billing software and you get the ability to spread all the different services like mail, dns, *sql, cp and httpd to different servers. It really makes life easy when you need to expand.

Very nice indeed, I may look into that :)
