Hello Board,

How are you today?

I know we all here about and love the term "SPAM". I like to eat it but I do not like to receive it in Private Message Form.

About 5 Minutes ago, I got a Private Message Spam with $1.00 webhosting in which I reported. "Hoston24". :mad:

I would like to know how many of you actually receive them and how many of you actually report them to the Moderators?

I've reported it to the mods as soon as I received it.

Does WHT have some sort of filter or restrictions in place so that new members won't be able to private message as soon as they register? Perhaps a post count limit could help.

I recieve like 3 a day and dont really report it. One person requested me to ddos a porn site with my dedi's ...... The main ones I report are accounts 6 months old or more and people with over 100 posts.

I don't usually receive it much, and um wrong forum lol.

Belongs in the lounge if anything.

I've received maybe 3 SPAM PM's in the almost 7 years I've been here.

I either reported them to the Mods or replied to the PM's with a link to the forum rules and highlighting certain portions in bold :)

I rarely get spam in PM's, may I am just lucky?

But seriously, if it happens, I don't report it, rather just explain to them that it's against the WHT rules.

I've never had one on WHT, I'm not complaining.

I've only gotten one spam PM before - I have been getting some unfriendly messages on our helpdesk directed at myself and mentioning WebHostingTalk but the person never uses a legitimate email address so I have no way of asking them what it is that they really want.

Oh well.

Yeah, I think it is becomming more to offen! Generally I find it stupid how people are even sending me spam messages asking me to signup for their service for $1.00.
Maybe I should of said, How many people actually fall for these private messages and get in a whole by doing so?

Generally their is a limit to most things so I would feel assured such filters are in action. ;)

I would be cautious. Definitely know on Wood or shoot a bullet into a tree. I say to myself that all the time (Nothing will happen) It generally turns out the opposite way. hehehe.

I recieve like 3 a day and dont really report it. I really hope that not many users put up with that level of abuse without reporting it. Unless you report incidents we have little way of knowing of PM spam.

I dont see how other people dont get that many pms... I should have been more clear lol. When I make a thread for certin parts or anything thats when I get 3+ pms per day for a few days.

Yeah that is a suprise. Most people in that case register and never post and come back, Hence no posts and a long relationship account ;)

Should report all spam no matter if the person is new or old.

These are usually people who only post in the advertising forums where the posts don't count towards their overall post count. IE: people chasing the cash instead of looking to build a community ;)

Do not get me wrong, I did Private Message Spam somebody when I first used WHT and I will not deny that... So we all learn from the mistakes we make :)

I get a PM or two when I post a thread stating that I'm looking for a new host. I wouldn't really consider is spam though, just people trying to sell their product.
