Here's my dilemma:

I recently opened up a web host <<snipped>> - Similar to the idea of WPWebHost.

I anticipated that the market of MyBB users would be big enough to make a decent profit, but now I realize that it will be hard to reach them all - since many already have hosting or something. And regarding non-MyBB users, they are reluctant to try my hosting (even if its normal hosting in essence).

I have spent a lot of time on this, and don't want to give it up. I'm curious as to how I can possibly get more clients. I'm advertising on popular MyBB-related forums, initiated AdWords campaigns, and buying banner ads on forums. But I've only gotten a few clients so far.

Luckily, I am completely financially stable, so I can continue to run this empty server for the end of time (or until AdSense bans me).

(I use MyBB a lot :))

If you're good at this kind of stuff, consider releasing some themes or such on the MyBB forums that have your link at the bottom relatively prominently next to the copyright, or be a very active participant/helper on the MyBB forums and put your link in your profile URL and signature?

I actually do that already :) I am a very popular member on the forums, and I just recently made my first MyBB plugin (which has gotten lots of downloads already). I used to run a skinning website, so I know a lot about MyBB skinning, I may make some.

My only problem with this is that just because members on MyBB forums see the links, doesn't mean they are web-savvy or use MyBB.

Not sure if this would work out too well, but for your site's front page you could push more of the community thing (i.e. "start your own fansite (hey, mybb comes with portal.php)/community/group/virtual social club from only $3 p/m") instead of specifically mentioning MyBB hosting.
