Hi,

I use Godaddy at the moment, approx £12 for 2 years.
Anybody recommend a cheaper registrar?

Thanks

The "going rate" with UK-based registrars is about £6 for two years, i.e, half the amount you are paying Godaddy (I have only checked the two biggest ones, UKreg and 123-reg, but I believe other mass market registrars charge about the same).

The fact that you are quoting the price in pounds would suggest that you are in the UK. You are complicating things unnecessarily by using a non-UK registrar to register a .uk domain. You are entering into a US contract with a US-based company to buy a service that is provided by a company in the UK (the registry, Nominet). This could make things quite messy, especially if you get into any kind of dispute with Godaddy (not an uncommon occurrence from what I have read here). It also means that you are not covered by UK data protection laws.

Namecheap.com offers .co.uk for $17.76 for 2 years.

With the exchange rates constantly dropped on the USD, that could soon be about £2.

Try Daily.co.uk. I use them for UK reg's, and their support is decent.

I used to use 123-reg, but they moved their support to Romania or somewhere, and I hate outsourcing.

I've used godaddy to register .com's in the past with no problems, guess its just habit to use them again. I'll take a look at daily.co.uk and ukreg. Thanks.

Cheap domains aren't always the best to use, what happens if you need support for your domain urgently and support takes day's to get back to you?

NameCheap is considering a EU/UK brand :)

I tend to use 123-reg for .co.uk domains as they work out at £6.88 which is approximately $11.10. Never requried any support, so can't really comment on that.

Namecheap have always responded to me promptly on both live chat and support tickets.

Tag = KEY-SYSTEMS-DE

That would be Key Systems tag though, rather than GoDaddy/WildWestDomains.

this is the only company that can use .ws as it is a registered name for the company.

Are you sure ?
