Ok guys, I currently have a reseller account with a good company, I'm just not too happy with them. I've researched through these forums for a while, but want to see if you guys had better opinions for my specific needs.

I host a few forums:

First Forum: 1,200 members, might grow soon when advertised and expecting 4-5,000 members. It uses PHPBB

Second forum: Around 300, IPB, and it does use pretty good amounts of resources.

Third forum: Around 40 members, but when we open it, we expect around 1-2,000 members.

We also have a few e-commerce carts that run Magento. Magento as you all know is very intensive.

I've tried the VPS scene once, but the support wasn't great, and it was slow. My current provider uses litespeed, and I believe it speeds up Magento a lot.

I don't really know what to do. Budget is fair, not too much, but its not $5/m. Any suggestions for providers? Or any suggestions at all?

Magento is quite demanding particularly if you have a big catalogue, and forums are too depending on how many concurrent users & size of DBs. I would look for a strong VPS or very high quality shared hosting, or perhaps a specialst Magento host. Either way I think you need to evaluate how much you are prepared to spend as personally I think you need to up your budget considerably (assuming it's $5/mo now) to get the quality of service you seem to be after.

Oh no its not $5/m, right now I have it split between 2 host, costing $15, and $25/m

Oh I see, sorry. Yeah if you go the VPS route look for 1GB+ RAM as Magento will love it, this will probably give you more flexibility as you control the VPS and what you want to run (e.g. your forums as well). For shared hosting it's a little more difficult to ascertain what you're actually getting for your money (probably equally true for VPS mind you :) but look for providers that have a proven track record of high-performance hosting or a offering some semblance of dedicated/isolated resources I guess. Sorry can't advise too much further, hopefully someone else with more experience can chip in.

What I can advise you is to go for two accounts - one for the forums while the other one for Magento.
Your budget seem fine as long as your requirements are reasonable. ;)

If all web sites and web projects you have on the reseller account are yours I would recommend you have VPS for that. Managed solution
