for new company it bit hard, better offer this after you become stable host
njoker555 09-11-2009, 10:59 AM you need to have the investment power - as Yajur stated, it will be hard for a new company to get into this - you are better off first getting some clients, looking for some profits, and then slowly saving money to invest in something like free billing softwares and enom reseller accounts, etc. jumping to services you can't afford will only hurt you from the start, something you don't want when starting off.
assistanz247 09-11-2009, 11:18 AM Yes, the value added services provided by the hosting giants really kills small/medium web hosting companies.
Yahoo recently offered Unlimited Hosting,Emails and Domain for around $42 to $50 which really kills growing companies. Poor customers never know that they will be charged around $100 to $150 or more next year.
Again surviving in such a huge competition and fighting with giants is always an adventure.

Its something that you may need to incorporate into your prices. Example and I am not doing this for self-promotion but when we started we looked at other companies and included WHMCS in all of our reseller packages while keeping our prices competitive with the "giants." One way we did this was forming partnerships with our data centers that we utilize to allow us to get the best rates for our servers, form partnerships with software companies like WHMCS or other companies that are associated with WHMCS in order to provide a license within our prices, being competitive and make profit. Web Hosting is something that takes time. We started planning since 2007 and we just launched. Keep that in mind.
We also do have a few investors so it may have been a little easier for us but you can do the same without investors just going to take time.
mrcjdawson 09-11-2009, 01:37 PM The best 'value added services' are the ones based on people with useful skillsets and knowledge. Determine what you are good at, and build your value proposition on top of that. If you are a Drupal or a SugarCRM expert, for instance, you build your accounts and you pitch the specialized expertise that you bring to the table. A company is best defined by the expertise of its people, and that expertise is the very best value added service.

Well its not like its completely impossible for new companies to offer value added services,You can add Enom Reseller Accounts it does not require any investment on your part.Reseller clients generally like free billing / helpdesk to manage their own clients, Try partnering with Billing / Helpdesk Software'sInitially you can start offering ClientExec/ WHMAP I bet if you purchase some bulk license Clientexec will cost you less then $5 for each license.
BloodRed 09-12-2009, 03:23 AM Also you can offer free helpdesk software like Vision as it does not require any large investment http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=889035

314Hosting 09-14-2009, 06:08 AM You can offer resellerclub accounts with a little investment : http://www.resellerclub.com
microbloghosting 09-15-2009, 04:56 AM Ok tell us if this is sufficient to start with
Billing Software ClientExec (Later when we can afford we will think about WHMCS)
Helpdesk Software Vision Helpdesk (Need to purchase one Owned License to offer free Vision helpdesk to reseller clients)
I think Kayako helpdesk is high budget and will require large investment.
Free Domain Name - resellerclub / ENOM
Is there anything else that can be added to attract reseller clients?
microbloghosting 09-15-2009, 04:57 AM And any one using Blesta? Is is good over Clientexec /WHMCS?
