Any suggestions for low cost or free software??? assistanz247 09-10-2009, 01:28 PM If you are starting as a reseller, many reseller hosting companies provide Free Billing software with your account. If you own a dedicated server and provide hosting you can use opensource billing phpcoin - but its not a very best solution and OSTicket Open source helpdesk. HNLV 09-10-2009, 01:41 PM Small time beginner can't afford big time billing software. Any suggestions for low cost or free software??? The WHMCS billing software is pretty cheap from www.licensepal.com about $12.95/mo...if you cant afford that to start your business...well.... SingleHopSteph 09-10-2009, 01:48 PM Looks like a lot of people thought WHMCS is the way to go: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=884794 Sign-Man 09-10-2009, 01:50 PM I rented a VPS and have Clientexec for $2 month, but I've heard it's not the best, people say WHCMS is better. I don't want to put out anymore monthly contracts until I start getting a client base established. I'm not an accountant and clientexec sounds like a beast. TheServerExperts 09-10-2009, 02:27 PM Billing system is a very important part in your bussines i recommend not saving cost on such a important software, your clients will thank you and feel a lot safer. plus what's 18.95 a month for an unbranden whmcs license, you can even cancel anytime. Cheers Sign-Man 09-10-2009, 02:42 PM OK, you people are correct and I will use the recommended WHMCS. I don't want to use one and then switch to another. jordanriane 09-10-2009, 02:42 PM You could always opt to go with a provider the includes a WHMCS license for free. Some that I know of offhand are Innohosting, Surpasshosting, Allurehost and I'm sure a lot of others. I don't have current experience with any of the hosts, but without a doubt you can find posts around here with reviews on them. IH-Rameen 09-10-2009, 02:53 PM It's a bit worrying you are starting a web hosting company but aren't willing or able to make the necessary investments for a suitable billing application.. You're in for a rough ride doing things this way.. I can understand being efficient, but it's a good idea to make the solid investments to get the base infrastructure set up and proper right from the get go. Honey Bear 09-10-2009, 03:04 PM phpCoin is the only open source project that I know of. But WHMCS is very good and inexpensive, definatly worth the money. It comes with most reseller/ vps packages or will be offered by the host for a minimal monthly fee. Shop around to find who can offer you the best price for WHMCS. Good point, some hosts offer FREE whmcs with their reseller plans which can easily be a cost savings of $20/month in itself jpatton 09-11-2009, 12:27 PM I played around with phpCoin for a little while a year or so ago, and compared with WHMCS i just found it frustrating. I don't know how actively its developed so it may have changed significantly since I last tried it, but my advice is save yourself the headache and go with WHMCS your billing system is too important to skimp on. I have used both WHMCS and clientexec I am much happier with WHMCS, but thats just my personal preference. John Sign-Man 09-11-2009, 06:09 PM phpCoin is the only open source project that I know of. I already lease a VPS from ServInt and am very satisfied with it. PEAK-Bobby 09-11-2009, 06:22 PM Hey goodluck with WHMCS it is a great billing software, I've used it for many years now and love it. If you do end up liking it and your business starts to grow. Try buying the unbranded version license! Try buying the unbranded version license! I looked at the demo and all there is a link at the bottom. Is there some special reason for unbranded? PEAK-Bobby 09-11-2009, 07:45 PM Unbranded will remove that WHMCS copyright at the bottom, which will show better to your customers. It's not required for businesses but I recommend it. Vikz 09-14-2009, 03:14 AM WHMAP have a free version which I saw here http://www.whmautopilot.com/purchase.php |
