Is it possible to delegate .US domains to use .com.au nameservers?

We have to wait a while for our registry's technicians to come back to work in order to attempt registering our 2 nameserver aliases (hostnames) within the .US namespace - however I'd like to know if anyone out there knows for sure if it can or cannot be done.

An example that I can whois would be appreciated too. Thank you

It is possible if the nameservers are located in the US. If they aren't, then you cannot delegate the .us to the nameservers, per the terms of the usTLD.

hm they are, but since they're .com.au the US registry rejected them on the basis they're not in the US - shmucks didn't even bother checking the IP :/
