Oh this is SO messed up.

RS assigns me new ips. Great. I add the ips to my machine. Great. Ok. I setup rock.drirc.net to dns to one of the ips they
assigned to me.

rock.drirc.net --> 64.246.17.77

ok. So, i login to another rackshack server, and type:

ping rock.drirc.net..

And do you know what i see?? unreal dude

1. I am shocked that they still left the rdns entry there
2. In order to get RDNS done at rackshack, you have to ask for it. You have to tell them what you want it to rdns to. I am
shocked that rackshack said sure we'll make $ip reverse dns to siti.nurhaliza.and.britney.spears.exposed.in.nakedwifes.org!

i mean i know i can just ask them to take off the rdns.. but i just find it funny that the ips they assign me have rdns
entries like that.

it doesn't bother me that they had LEFT a rdns entry on one of my ips.

im sure other isps have made mistakes like that.

RackShack's service has been improving and they have servers for $189/ month that they provide quality support on.

just an update now

one of the ips rackshack assigned me was 64.246.17.77

i made rock.drirc.net dns to 64.246.17.77 as i said earlier

well i guess someone else has 64.246.17.77 added to their machine
so im thinking

a) rackshack assigned me someone elses ips by acident
b) somoene added 64.246.17.77 for some reason to their server(which isnt likely)

looks like ill be contacting RS about this....
cant use ips that arent mine.

also rackshack owns this board, wonder if anyone will read this

I have actually seen a few times that someone has added an IP they didn't own meaning that the true owner can't use the IP.

I also know that Rackshack has terminated users (that did it several times). Still a funny story though :)
