![]() | View Full Version : Redhat 7.3 or Redhat 8.0 Reference 11-13-2002, 07:45 AM Which one is better in terms of the aspect in all areas Darth 11-13-2002, 10:27 AM 8.0 Esr Tek 11-13-2002, 11:55 AM Depends on your usage of it??? Desktop - 8.0 Web Server - 7.3 Reference 11-13-2002, 12:05 PM For server use , why is 7.3 better than 8.0? any compatibility problems with 8.0? (eg php/mysql with 8.0) Esr Tek 11-13-2002, 01:33 PM More for stablity / bug fixes. I would never suggest a *.0 version in a server enviorment ;) golfer 11-13-2002, 01:35 PM 8.0 is a little buggy... especially on dual systems. On 2 out of the 3 dual systems I tried installing it on, it gave me error messages and told me to save the error messages and send it to Red Hat's Bugzilla. Never got through the install. On single, systems I haven't encountered any noticeable problems. Then again, I didin't notice any bugs in the previous versions either (until a few months down the road). I think it's a good idea to wait at least a few months for Red Hat to deal with any major bugs before using it on anything serious, such as webhosting for clients. BenDoherty 11-13-2002, 05:23 PM 7.3 most definitely for web server, i would never use a new release such as 8.0 on mission critical servers or where there is the chance something can go wrong :) Regards, Ben Reference 11-13-2002, 10:28 PM I see, any books to recommend on -administrating- RH then? for the server edition.
