I can understand Linux and Windows hosting, but what is cold fusion and asp?

These arent operating systems right?

asp and coldfusion is the languages same like php.
asp and cold fusion can only run on WINDOWS NT server and
php can run on LINUX server
almost 75% peoples are using linux server for their websites and 25% WINDOWS NT (only if they want to use the above languages ASP,COLDFUSION,MS ACCESS,SQL ETC)

Actually, there are versions of both ASP (from Chilisoft) and Cold Fusion that can run over Sun Solaris' operating system (yet another flavour of *NIX, Sun's proprietary blend)

But usually, it's a safe bet that if someone's advertising themselves as ASP and Cold Fusion hosting, they're also a Windows host (or they offer Windows or *NIX hosting)
