Hello All,
I have been giving some serious thought to start offering cheap Proxy Hosting plans and was wondering if anyone can give me some insight. Here are my thoughts, I was wondering if you had anything to add.
Resource Use - I would be placing these on a seperate dedicated server to keep the useage isolated.
Resource Use - Space and Bandwidth will not be oversold to prevent Abuse
Resource Use - Only PHP Based Proxys are permitted
Server Abuse - Need help with this...
Any Help with #4?

It's best to avoid trying to host large proxy sites that get huge traffic spikes. You'll also need to find a way to carefully monitor your clients as proxies can be abused and used for illegal or unethical means. Placing proxy clients on servers separate from regular shared clients is a good start.

Hello,
I am trying to target users who want a personal proxy. I will also run cPanel on the server to limit bandwidth use. The only problem is of couse, preventing abuse.
I was thinking about offering 3 types of proxies.
Plan 1 - Shared IP (50 MB Space and 5 GB Bandwidth)
Plan 2 - Dedicated IP (100 MB Space and 50 GB Bandwidth)
Plan 3 - Reseller (5 Dedicated IPs + 1 GB Space + 100 GB Bandwidth) - Removed until I can figure out how to stop abuse

Of course I will have a 0 Tollerance TOS for abuse. I have no intentions of offering an overseas proxy because that is like me saying that it is "OK".

I think the only way to prevent it is only allow people to pay if they upload a id and only use it for themselves. other then that I have not seen a host deal with abuse other then suspend them the instant it happens.

Proxy hosting is good idea but can be used for illegal actions.
Be sure to watch your clients and traffics so you can suspend them if they misused it.
